I bought a lazer mouse. Since it's cold, snow is on the ground, I want my cats to stay inside until the temperature gets a bit warmer. The cats both tried to humor me a bit by playing with it a little, but by the end of the day they both looked at the mouse in my hand and then looked at me as if to say "I know it's really you moving that mouse around."

I think they truly enjoyed playing with the lazer mouse, even though it didn't take long for them to connect the mouse movements to you. They probably looked at the mouse in your hand in anticipation, waiting for you to do something.

Try a mini laser pointer. My cats can't get enough of it. Even when in the middle of a deep sleep, if they hear the jingle of the keychain when I take the laser pointer off it's little hook, they come running and park themselves in front of me waiting for the games to begin. They love chasing the little red dot... endlessly...

Cats are smart. Try using the mouse thing once a day or every other day. Have different things for them to play with which Iam sure you do.

Your cats probably are tired of the toy, give them a break. Maybe let them play with another toy for a later. Soon they will find interest to the mouse later.

thats too funny! I bought one of those for my cats too, they do the exact same thing, they give you that look like "you're the idiot, i know whats going on" lol. You should try using a flashlight.. mine LOVE flashlights.. just move the light back and forth on the ceiling or on the walls... its great fun to watch! and im sure its good excersize.

Our cats get bored of the expensive toys easily. They prefer chewing on straws, playing with rubberbands, milk bottle rings, bread bag ties.Weird, yes,but they love it.Our cats go outside still even when it's snowy, they just don't stay out very long.

oh, yes your cats are humoring you, our cats humor us quite a bit, probably...it isn't good for them to go outside, they get run over by cars, and chased and sometimes killed by dogs, and then there is that element of humans that think everything is there for them to have fun with by teasing and harming and killing...give it some thought.

I'm sure they knew all along that you were moving the mouse.

They just got tired of it.

Put it away for a while. They'll enjoy it again after a while.

Cats are not as dumb as they look, so after a while, I'm not suprised they figured it out.
