Obviously, someone didnt just wake up one day and think, "if people are good, they go to heaven. If they are bad, they go to hell." How did it start? Where did the concept of satan come from?

And please don't say "because its in the bible." I know it is in the bible. But there were stories being told long before the bible was written. How did it make it to its current form as told in the bible?

Wow! This is a huge question! The history channel did a documentary you might want to watch. The concept of hell definitely did evolve, even throughout the Bible. Watch the documentary.

It's an idea that has been passed down from generation to generation. heaven and hell are places that no one has seen, yet people still believe it. Same to hell. Anything told story-wise before the bible was either not put in or destroyed because it was Pagan history.
Oh, right, and the bible was only written 2,000 years ago. Who knows exactly when the world was "created"?

Religion is used by man to explain the unexplainable so that they may know the unknown. Early man confused movement with life, they thought wind, the sun, and the moon were alive and must be gods. Early man gave human characteristics to these objects since that was all they knew, and over the millenia more developed religions came into being, such as Judaism and Christianity.

You should know, however, that Judaism is the continuation of past religions. While the Hebrews were captive in Egypt, they took the idea of a single God from the first monotheistic pharoah, Akhenaton, who made Egypt only worship one god, Aten.

How do you think the information in the Bible got in the Bible?? God told men to write this information for all to know, they wrote it...they were translated and collected into one book the Bible. The reality of Heaven, Hell, and Satan came from God himself...If you don't choose to believe that, that's ok. One day we will all find out the truth of what everyone likes to call a "fairy tale"

It really simple the truths are there because God has been around since before the beginning and He inspired people to write these true stories down. And Good people don't go to heaven its people who put there trust in Jesus & believe He is alive that go to Heaven.

A lot of religions believe in a form of heaven and hell.

Even in Buddhism there are the bardos which describe entering heavenish or hellish realms (depending on your state of mind) before being reborn.

You have to start thinking something about this is true considering how prevalent it is.

I think it's like Chinese whispers, wisdom gets twisted and distorted by the unwise that lack the wisdom. I think it all goes back to Eastern philosophies and nature being worshiped as God and being twisted to becoming a personification. I think evil comes from being out of line with natural law of goodness. These words were created in that context to scare and manipulate for the power of the church. The only real Hell or heaven that exists is what we make ourselves according to the level of our consciousness - 'the seeds thee sow, thee shall reap'.

i think of that heaven is spending eternity with God and hell is spending eternity separated from God. in addition to, i think of the devil is mandatory angel or spirit who grew to become faraway from God. Angels have loose will to stick to God's will or shrink back. If those issues are all actual then the solutions are "definite, God owns the entire universe," and "No, the devil isn't all undesirable, yet he's not the caretaker of something. it is my theory of heaven and hell. it could be like in case you have been the discern of an exceptionally rebellious teen who have been given mixed up with rather extreme drugs. and at last, inspite of your terrific efforts, your baby blew his innovations with the medicine and at last died. The willfulness and desire to be separate are all on the baby's head. The discern only needs a happy and nicely adjusted baby. comparable with God and the devil and Hell. Wilds

People got their stories from the original manuscripts that eventually formed the Bible. There is no other way.
