No not yet because i think there will probably be problems for the first year or so before Windows Vista works out all the problems it may encounter. Then i may consider buying one.

After reading the following, which appeared in the Buffalo News of 1/29/07, I will not buy Vista at this time:
Microsoft Extends XP Service (Buffalo News, 1/29/07)
REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - Qn the eve of the consumer launch of its new Windows Vista- operating system Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2007) Microsoft Corp. is extending the period in which it will offer support for the previous version, Windows XP.
Consumers who own Windows XP machines already were entitled to get customer service on the software up until April 2009. That date reflects Microsoft’s policy of curtailing its support for an edition of Windows two years after a new version hits the market.
Microsoft recently said consumers who still have Windows XP running April April 2009 will be entitled to five more years of “extended support.” In the extended plan, consumers will still get security fixes, but instead of free service from the Microsoft help desk, they will have to pay for most assistance.
Microsoft said the move was meant to bring the support policies for consumers in line with what businesses already have.
Vista has been available for big businesses since Nov. 30, 2006, but hits the consumer PCs market as of Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007

Nope, not for a while. 3 reasons:
1. PC Mag says there's nothing spectacularly new nor fast about it. So it must be a version of XP packaged with a few glitzy features.
2. Vista will require some new hardware such as video card, so I'll wait until it gets sorted out security-wise and then buy Vista, computer and all.
3. We've waited 5 years, so what's another few months.

I absolutely will not be buying Windows Vista because of the kernel level DRM. I also do not like Microsoft poking through my computer through Activation and Windows Genuine Advantage. I am sticking with 2000 Professional.

Bought it, used it. It's working fine at the moment on my one year old system, and it is speedier than windows xp. So far the best Windows microsoft has released out through these years. As for Windows Genuine Advantage, it's a good implementation to prevent software piracy and microsoft is doing a good job on it.
Bad point about it will be some incompatibilities for some software and older hardwares.

My pc has been "Vista ready" for a year or two.
Am I ready? Yes, to see the newest OS Mircosoft has to offer.
Will I purchase it? Not for a few months. I will be watching and reading stories, flaws, holes, and such. I will be upgrading when it clams down. I might just wait to upgrade when Halo 2 comes out for pc (it will be vista only I belive).

no, it's been in beta testing for the last couple of months and this group (i can't remember the name) has already hacked into the new software and put viruses, trojan horses, worms, and things like that in it. Until the virus blockers and firewalls have figured out the codes for these things and, I'm not gunna purchase it. Theres not point in buying to have to fight all of those things. Plus, XP is working fine for me and i don't mind having old computers, as long as they work. I'm operating a computer that is 4 years old and i still have a windows 95 that works...

don't buy any windows product upon release. at least wait until the first service patch is released. unless you are a gamer and need it to run the latest games. but that won't be for a while.
