Don't make decisions as big as this based on someone telling you that you should. Please! You can't call yourself a Mormon or anything else if you don't even know what they believe.
The Mormons believe that an angel came down and gave Joseph Smith some golden tablets with magical sunglasses that enabled him to read them. He taught that Jesus would return and that the New Jerusalem mentioned in the Bible would NOT be in Israel, as the Bible says, but in North America. They believe that Jesus was not divine, but just some guy who did a good job and was elevated by God to his status. Their beliefs are closely linked with the Masonic Lodge in the use of the same icons on their special long underwear they all wear. They believe that after you die, if you are one of them, that if you're male, you will become a god and get to rule over your own universe just like God rules over ours. If you're a woman, then you get to spend all eternity still married to your god-husband, but your role is to give him eternal sex and birth his spirit babies for all eternity.
I don't agree with ANY of their doctrines, but I must say that I like Mormons. I think they practice a false religion, but they practice what they believe as a group much better than we mainstream Christians do. They are also better at taking care of their own than even the federal government is. I think the American welfare system could take lessons from the Mormons. And they really do have strong families. But for all the things I love and admire about them, the doctrines are the dealbreaker for me.

L.D.S. or Mormon or the church of Jesus Christ if Latter day saints all one and the same. They believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers and God did not like Satan’s plan, but like Jesus plan. Jesus to the Mormons died so they could pray to him for forgiveness, oh and died on the cross, but that’s about it, that won't get them into heaven because their theology has paganism and freemasonry in it besides their claim of Christianity. They claim to be the church from Jewish days and they had many wives in the O.T. days so hence they believe in polygamy. But god did not create Adam and eve and denice and Stacey ect. Anyways. They are prejudice because they believe in preexistence and they think that a lot of people went with satins plan (black people) and some kind of went with Jesus and Satan (lighter skin people) and those that went with Jesus (whites). They believe that Mary was married to God, so that’s what happened when the holy ghost came over here...they did it. This is a higher form of their theology, one that is only taught in the temple, so their are two theologies going on, the one that nontemple Mormon’s know about and the one that temple Mormons know about. ect. They have there own KJV which they have added stuff to. www.saintsalive.com will help to. The women must have as many babies as possible. The women cannot pray for other like in the christian church. ect.

Neither i know this religion well, so there's not much I can advice.
However, what I would like to share is do not go into believe due to any peer's/family's pressure, do not convert just for the sake of converting. Use your own logic and analysis abilities to do research, investigation, even challenge the teaching if you have doubts before committing into any spiritual development.
By the end on the day, you have to take up the responsibilities for you own spiritual growth.

Seriously, do not be seeking advice or knowledge about a religion from Yahoo!Answers. It is too important of a subject and directly impacts your life. If you want to know about the Mormons talk to some mormons (maybe missionaries) or go to their websites and educate yourself (mormon.org or lds.org). If you listen to those of different faiths or ex-mormons you will be filled with biasis and many untruths. I have studied hundreds of religions and always put myself in their shoes and learned from the respective members. The most important thing in the Mormons faith though, is that you draw closer to Christ and get to know Him. Good luck.

It was a religion started by Joseph Smith in 1830. He was a false prophet. He claimed he translated a lost book of the Bible called "The Book of Abraham" that was actually an Egyptian Heiroglyph from the Book of The Dead. That alone proves he's a fake! But also said the mormons alive in the 19th century would live to see Jesus return in their lifetime. Also wrong.

Being a Mormon and not going to the Mormon church is OK.
If you want to find out more details about it, go to bcmmin.org and read up what they have to say.

never commit to what you don't know! In short, they believe Jesus came and preached to the 'new world' after he rose and ascended. Joseph Smith found/was inspired to write these teachings hundreds of years later creating their Latter Day Saints (thus the name also) book. They focus first on tradition, second of scripture to support that tradition which is, but not limited to traveling to preach the gospel, finding a partner to marry that will be your partner in heaven (unbiblical), and being baptized for people trapped in limbo so that they can go to heaven (unbiblical). They also believe that when the Armeggedon happens, there will be a famine, so they believe in stockpiling food and supplies since no one will know when that day will come.

You shouldn't convert to Mormonism unless you know what it's about. It's not like joining Book-Of-The-Month-Club.

why not do some research? It would be better for you to read the mormon website than to have someone give you a thumbnail answer to a really big question.
try www.lds.org or www.mormon.org or something like that
