yes you can die from an electrolyte imbalance.
But the fasting is not likely to be a sole cause. Some other contributing factor would need to be in place. That other contributing factor would be the key for whether it acted slowly or quickly.

To answer your ORIGINAL question, NO. Any healthy person who fasts for "a few days" will not have a problem
The problem comes with severe water intoxication, protracted vomiting and/or diarrhea, with insufficient fluid and electrolyte replacement.
The World Health Organization provides a recipe for rehydration solution that is way cheaper than pedialyte and gatorade.

Certainly yes. In fact when they administer lethal injection, what actually kills the guy is a huge dose of potassium chloride. This is a major electrolyte imbalance and the heart stops.

Yes, you can, dehydration, either from sickness, diarrhea, vomiting, or sweating, can cause a loss of these nutrients. These are vital to the balance in your body. If you do not replace these , you will end up in the hosp. (as I have) and could possible die as a result. I was given IV hydration for two days before I felt better. You get dizzy, and see little zingy type lights in your eyesight. Do not play with this, it can be serious.

Yup! You should check out the headlines from last week or the week before. A radio station did a bit where the contestants had to drink water. The person who drank the most without taking a pee won, and one of the contestants died.
Autopsy report stated it was due to no electrolytes. She had basically died of water intoxication, freaky!

You most certainly can! And it's a very unpleasant way to die. It can take hours or days - so don't do this fasting thing, it's just plain silly.
