I've complained to the Landlord about their constant noise (stomping around, moving furniture every day, etc.) but the Landlord doesn't really do much. What can I do that's nasty (but not illegal) to make their life a little more miserable?

My friend did this who had the same problem. Get some skunk urine at a local nursery. (Used to keep deer away from plants.) Get a big syringe. Inject some of the skunk urine either under the apartment door, or through the rubber on their car window. It smells really bad. Hehe.

I don't think that there is much that you can do. If it's their footsteps that's bothering you, then you probably just have to deal with it. That's what happens when you take an apartment below someone elses. If they're otherwise being loud (i.e. throwing stuff, moving furniture, playing loud music) you could ask them personally to keep it down after say 10 pm or whenever you feel it's inappropriate for them to be noisy.

I don't recommend that you do anything to get back at them. That just might escalate matters. You never know if people will end up keying your car door or do other things to get back at you. If it's bothering you that much, see if your landlord will let you move into another unit (it that is at all possible). Otherwise you'll just have to adjust to it or look for legal ways of getting out of your lease. That is what sucks about living in an apartment/duplex - you can hear nearly everything in an adjoining unit.

Wait until 3 in the morning, put a speaker right up to the ceiling, and crank it with the worst crap you can find for a good 5 minutes. Then shut it off, and deny you did it if they complain. Do this everytime they get loud.

My brother had chronic furnature rearrangers when he lived downstairs, all hours of the night, dragging heavy furnature around!!

MOVE!!!
live upstairs!!!!

Sorry.........!

See if the landlord has an upstairs you can move to.

Now days, most things that are nasty are probably illegal.

Consider moving into the apartment ABOVE them. Then do the same things they have been doing. That is called poetic justice.

call the cops. calling them will have your complaint on record. keep calling them. the more complaints you have on record will give the landlord no choice to either evict or not renew their lease. you have a right to live in peace.

put something slippery on the steps, they will have to move if they get seriously injured and are no longer able to climb stairs, lol. just be sure to clean up the evidence.
