My brother is 27 & recently relocated to where I live. My fiance'
& I allowed him to live with us for a bit til he gets re-established in a new area. I'm babbling b/c this has nothing to do with the question. He has some awful (as my fiance' describes - it smells as if he's been eating dead people in hot trash) gas. My brother has a good attitude about it & tries to laugh it off, but I grew up with him - this is not how he has always smelled. My family is a large one made up of nasty, disgusting men who like to laugh about their flatulence..... but none have never come close to the smell that is coming out of his body. He has become a bit worried about it b/c he hasn't changed any of his eating habits, and doesn't understand why this has just begun. It's not the anxiety of moving b/c he had it before the move, he says. I've searched the internet - he is normal weight, eats healthy - & I can't figure it out. What could cause such awful, stinky gas on an almost nightly basis?

One possible cause could be undigested fats in the system. That might be due to a gallbladder or liver problem. Undigested fat sort of lubricates the system, causing lots of gas and usually it smells horrific. If he is not producing enough bile to break down the fat, the stools would be a lighter color than normal, and possibly he could have looser stools as well.
It could also be due to an upset in the bacteria in the gut. Anytime the normal flora of the intestines are upset, some food is not digested properly. Milk and other dairy products are the usual culprits, and the lactic acids from undigested milk cause cramping and gassiness, and sometimes diarrhea. You don't mention diarrhea or cramping, so I don't suspect this is the explaination- but it is a possibility.
To restore the bacterial flora in the gut, the best thing is to cut off all other dairy products for a few days, and then eat a carton of live culture yogurt. The flavor isn't important, so long as the cultures are still live. A carton per day for a few days should rebuild the bacteria he needs. If the problem still persists after he cuts out the dairy, then it is not the problem.
To see if undigested fat is the culprit, he will really need to conscienciously alter his diet for a few days to cut out all fats and oils. That would mean a primarily vegetarian diet- but avoiding cruciferous vegetables, since most baked goods still contain fats- it's not just the meats. Salad dressing would be out, though he could have fat free varieties. After three or four days of this, he would notice a lessening of the gas problem- if undigested fat is the problem.
If nothing seems to change matters, then he really needs to visit the doctor. Although gas has a certain amount of odor, it is methane gas, after all, it should not be that bad. Some people do have particularly potent gas, but it usually doesn't just occur suddenly without a good reason. The culprit may simply be dietary, but it could also be due to something that needs to be corrected.

Your gas is what you eat and drink. I'm sure the older you get your body absorbs food differently. So in return your gas will smell different. you can look up what foods cause more stinky gas online. Good luck.....

He is having bacterial as well as amoebic infection in his bowel. Also he must be suffering from moderate of constipation. He should take single dose of albendazole with some strong laxative than follow it up with metranidazole 400mg twice, ciprofloxacin 500mg twice & mild laxative at bed time. Stop all medicine after 10 days except laxative. He should take a lot of water & should not take lamb meat for a long period.
