Ok first you need to think about feeding these dog's everyday. These types of dogs also require alot of exercise its in their genetics, these are not good house pets most sled dogs are kept chained up outside in the elements when not in use. These are breed to be working dogs something you most likely will not be able to devote alot of time to seeing as how you go to school and probubly dont have a full time job. You will have to cover the vet bills as well as buy a sled and harness's there goes $1500. By the way do you even live were it snows enough to run a dog sled? Sorry to say but your Dad is right

haha you need a siberian husky. i paid 400 for mine. you need a lot more than 1 or two dogs. wait a few years. i wanted my dog to do that but it takes too much time. and its somewhat random. its something that you cant predict. how do you know the dog is really going to be able to pull your weight when it is full grown?

did you know that the iditrod is the worst form of animal abuse there is and do you know how many of those dogs die during the event? To me they need to stop these events . It is cruel and inhumane . Please forget about being a musher and be a normal kid and love your dog just because they are your dog. good luck.
