Is it just a base pay that everyone gets for claiming their child, or do they base it off how long you work?

The amount of an exemption and child tax credit is the same for everyone who owes enough taxes to take advantage of it, unless their income is above a certain level at which time these begin to phase out.

No it does not matter how long you worked that year as long as you worked you can get the child credit and maybe even earned income credit.
