I am an R. N. with over 20 years experience in an Intensive Care Nursery and have seen this condition a couple of times. As far as I remember, the doctors said there is no know cuse for this anomoly. Like many others , it is just an accident. I seriously doubt that dietary deficiencies in the mother would have anything to do with it.

How sad, I don't know a doctor should be able to test the baby to find out what happened. It could be a lot of different things that went wrong.
