There is a guy at work (in a restaurant). He is usually pretty outgoing (even around girls) but whenever he is around me, he's shy. I think that he finds it difficult to talk to me. Like the other day, no other co-workers were around except for me and him... he walked past me and lingered for a while (like he's thinking) before asking me about school (we're both college students). He often comments on how smart I am.

He also stares at me a lot and whenever I look his direction, he looks away or looks at something else that's in my direction.

He's really nice to me-- but in a modest way. He does little things to make my job easier. I also notice that he stares at me a lot. The thing is that I kind of like him too and I don't know if this is clouding my judgement.

Clouding what judgment? Do girls need for a guy to get down on one knee and propose? He's doing all this and you don't know if he likes you? Come on, you can't be that naive.
If you like this guy, please take some of the pressure off of him and let him know it. He's obviously trying to be nice and not "mack" on you. Next time he's around, just do or say something really nice to him. Come one, you watch TV and movies, right? YOu know how it's done.

It would appear ,,,, from the things you described ,,,, that he is interested but be mindful that young guys will sniff (so to speak) in all directions at once because it's very few guys in this age bracket or older or even up to and beyond their 40's that know what the word commitment means ,,,, As where this guy is concerned though ,,,, I think to start a relationship with him or further the situation you are already in with him ,,,, You might consider returning some of the favors he extends to you ,,,, If that's possible ,,,, You said he does little things that make things easier for you ,,,, Well ,,,, that's a two way street and it could very well be the thing to break the ice so to speak ,,,, Good luck ,,,, Yoda told you this ,,,,

It's not, it's lighting the path. Ask him to hang out sometime or just start up a conversation. Even saying hi could make his day. If he's interested, then it'll go up from there hopefully. If he's not, then oh well. It's honestly not the end of the world. But just ask him to hang out or start a conversation to smooth out the tension.

Sounds like he is....but if u want it to work WAIT for him to make all the moves. And if he doesn't make the moves He's just not what you thought he was....enjoy the flirtations...it's nice when a man stares at you...as long as it's not the "scary stare".

he is SO into you! he's just gets nervous when you're around so he can't think of anything to say. and asking you about school is just a way that he can talk to you! so find reasons to talk to him! show him you're interested!

Typical answer: Ask him, not us. How can we possibly know what he's thinking?

But I'd say that he's highly interested :)
