I'm sorry Mark, but your point seems moot to me. You say that the Universe started a few billion years ago, the sun lost around a dozen of fragments, which then cooled, (or, at least in one case, exploded) and fell in to their gravity channels to start a ballet that won't stop for another couple of billions of years because it is written that it all started around 6000 years ago? How do you explain Dark matter? How do you explain Einstein's theory about curvature of space?
And, since you brought old Albert into this mess, may I remind you that his theory changed our view of the universe and time precisely by destroying a theory that was just as established and accepted as the second theory of thermodynamics?
Besides,if you are a Christian, you are supposed to believe that God is Allmighty, not Entropy.
Oh, and back to the question... I'm not a christian, sorry. But I can add this: "Tis not only a round world, but it also moves in circles..."

I am not sure why you assume that Christians believe that the universe doesn't have a beginning and an end. "In the beginning..." seems to answer the first and "the heavens will pass a way with a fervent noise" seems to answer the ending. Eistein's theory of relativity proves that the universe had a beginning and the second law of thermodynamics tells us there will be an end. God created this universe and will bring it to end. This is all you get.
ADDITION:
You are right. There is more to this. Obviously, I believe as the Bible teaches that there will be a new heaven and a new earth. Paul stated that if all he had was hope in this world, he was above all men most miserable. There is more to just living and dying - there is an eternity.

Interesting question. I am not entirely sure about this one, but I would say for the world to exist today something had to have been infinite or else nothing would be here today. There always would had to have been something. Scientifically the universe is infinite in the conservation of energy. If energy can't be destroyed then their will always be energy in our universe, it may just be in different forms. It also is hard for me to believe that something could have come from nothing. This is the case that would have occurred if the world isn't infinite. Then there would have had to at one point been nothing, and poof something came out of it. Something in this world has always been here, which I personally believe is a God. I guess I believe that the universe won't end, it will change greatly, but there will always at least be energy here, it may be in different forms, but some will always be here. I doubt that their will be nothing because space is something, and I just can't see that disappearing.

Infinite universe? Probably not. But I don't think we will ever find the end of it. First and only time for an earth like place? I don't know. I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference. We have a lot of problems here right now . I don't think we have a great need to worry about other places. Let's clean up our own act first. I'm afraid we have a very long way to go.

No,I don't think the universe is infinite. My reasoning for this is if the universe was infinite, then there could not be anything finite. Basically, in order for the universe to be infinite, there would have to be an infinite number of planets, an infinite number of Earth's, and an infinite number of you and I...But, there would also have to be an infinite number of No You and I.
To summarize:
Infinite Universe can not hold a finite amount of things, as it goes on for ever.

The universe is finite, both in size and time. I read a science article (not my expertise) recently that many scientists now believe the universe is much like earth in a way, you can start at one point and go as far as you can, but ultimately you'll end up back at the same point. In other words, you can't just fly a spaceship outward into infinite.
Now exactly how old the universe is, I have no idea.

I hope I don't get red flagged for this, but your question so intrigued me, & the quote says it all. I'm an Atheist, shouldn't have answered, but hoped there'd be some interesting answers.
I also wanted to thank you for the first part of the quote, which I'd forgotten. I'll answer anyway--yes--infinite, with no beginning or end.

The universe is not infinite. The universe has a beginning and an end otherwise it would be bound by time. God is infinite and he has no beginning or end. God is not bounded by time, in fact he created time.

you compromise with Jehovah's Witnesses in this regard. countless punishment, eternal hell hearth, eternal torment, and greater than a number of different different words are completely not scriptural. The Bible merely says that the wages of sin is dying. At dying you have "paid" to your previous sins. the guy sleeps in dying till the resurrection, while they are able to have the prospect to serve Jehovah and stay forever in paradise in the international, or in the event that they make certain to not serve Jehovah, everlasting dying. there are various greater info, ask Jehovah's Witnesses for a bible learn.

The world is created with a starting of time and ending of time just like the Alpha and Omega. So the world will come to an end eventually.
