There is really nothing that you can do right now other than wait until she is two. I felt the same way about my daughter when she was 19 months old and the doctor told me to wait until she is 24 months old to see if her vocabulary would improve, if by then you still have concerns tell her doctor at her 24 months check up.I would write down words that she says and knows its meaning to this way you can tell for your self and her doctor her progress during those months to see if she will need speech therapy or not. Some kids just start later and some kids needs extra help.

my son was about 10 month old when he said his first word and really knew what he was saying.
he's 15 months now and has a vocabulary of about 20-25 words and can understand at least half of what i say to him.
every child develops differently, but if your daughter still shows no interest in talking when she turns 2 or 2 1/2 i would talk to a dr and maybe have her tested for autism or something else if she's showing any other symtoms.

Don't worry too much now. Just don't wait too long. You can try and find a speech pathologist, but you will probably need a referral from your family doctor and they usually don't take insurance, it adds up fast. Do you have older children? Sometimes children don't talk much because they don't have to. Keep encouraging her and keep giving her opportunities to speak. My son has been taking speech since preschool and is in the 2nd grade and it is funded from his public school. Good luck. Side note: Einstein did not speak until he was 4 years old.

your daughter is probably just fine, especially if you haven't noticed any other delays in developement. My father didn't speak a word until he was over two, and now he has a PHD. just keep an eye out for anything else that is unusual, and keep reading and talking to her all the time!

well my first child was about 9 months when she could say 2 word "sentences" my second child was almost 3 when he started to talk and my youngest is 19 months and she is just starting to really talk, I think it depends on there personality.
