God does not want you trying to get into heaven, He wants you to know Him and His Son Jesus, thus assuring that you will go to heaven.
You don't have to work for it, your works could never get you into heaven.
If you know Him and His Son Jesus, you will begin to change how you behave.

Proverbs 1:7 declares, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge". Until we understand who God is and develop a reverential fear of Him, we cannot have true wisdom. True wisdom comes only from understanding who God is and that He is holy, just, and righteous. Some redefine the fear of God for believers to "respecting" Him. While respect is definitely included in the concept of fearing God, there is more to it than that. A biblical fear of God, for the believer, includes understanding how much God hates sin and fearing His judgement on sin — even in the life of a believer. Hebrews 12:5-11 describes God’s discipline of the believer. While it is done in love (Hebrews 12:6), it is still a fearful thing. As children, the fear of discipline from our parents no doubt prevented some evil actions. The same should be true in our relationship with God. We should fear His discipline, and therefore seek to live our lives in such a way that pleases Him. Believers are not to be scared of God. We have no reason to be scared of Him. We have His promise that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). We have His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Fearing God means having such a reverence for Him that it has a great impact on the way we live our lives. The fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshipping Him in awe.

Good point.
Another thing about the "free will" and heaven/hell issue....it's all about timing. If you decide on Jesus when you're on earth, you're in. But once you're dead, standing there at the gates of hell, any sane person would choose Jesus! Except then it's too late. So it's really more a matter of exercizing the free will while you're on earth cause it's a limited time offer.
The whole hell concept just makes god into a monster who makes Bin Laden look like a boy scout.

Honey, please go back and read some of the answers to your last question regarding fear and free will. We already explained it to you.
We do not fear sin. You really just don't understand, do you? Committing a sin does not mean going to Hell.
Are you really so twisted up inside yourself that everywhere you look you can only see what you think is people going about their lives in a perpetual state of fear? It looks like you're doing some *serious* projecting here.
Yo, Laptop Jesus? Death does not automatically mean it's too late. Quit listening to people who love to steer you wrong, kiddo. You're just spreading the misinformation.

Exodus 20:20
Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
If he didn't give us "free will" to make our own choices, or give us a choice period what would that make him?...a fair god...no. More like a dictator. God is just, fair, and loving.
When you were a kid, did your parents punish you, if so you probably had a sertain "fear" of them, but it was out of love right...
Hebrews 12:6
because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
Deuteronomy 8:5
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
Job 5:17
"Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 3:11-12
11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,
Nor detest His correction;
12 For whom the LORD loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

It's not an illusion, We were born into sin. The bond between God and Man were broken. Thankfully he sent his only son to die for our sins so that we may become whole with him again.
If fear get you to listen to God, all the better, there is nothing wrong with that. But understand this, God is not of fear, Satan is. Do I fear hell, Hell yeah I did. Does that change how I fell about God, NO.

A very interesting analysis. Fear seems to work both ways in this religion, and it would seem to be inconsistent. Remember, the people who created the religion really just want to control the masses, and it doesn't have to be very sophisticated to do that. If you listen to most Christians on Y!A, you can see how easy it is to program them with any silly expressions that aren't logical. The answer under mine is vivid proof of religious programming.

Your right, he does give us fre will, but our decision isnt based simply out of fear, but rather out of gratitude fo the amazing sacrifce christ made, despite the fact that through my ignorance, i rejected him. Sin, is transgression of the Law (ten Commandments), every time we have lied, stolen, looked with lust, used Gods name in vain or blapshemed, we have sinned against a Holy God, and the penalty for sin is death and hell. but, fear of hell is not the right motivation for repntance. The good news is that Christ died for your sins anyway, he could have chose to allow us to remain in our own ingorance with no Hope, only to face a wrathful judgement, but he came and died for all the times you have lied and stolen ect. you broke the Law, and Jesus paid your fine. How do you get the right motivation? think about your sins, then think about your God, suffering the death and condmnation you deserve, and it should break your heart. then go to God and repent (turn from sin) and trust in Jesus. the moment you do, you will be a gratitude filed convert, not a fear filed convert, and you will be granted the gift of everlasting life and made a new creature in christ. I know this is truem, because I saw myself in the light of Gods law, and realizizng what Christ had done, i repented of my sins and trusted in him. Now I have a personal relationship with God and forgiveness through the Lord Jesus christ.
God Bless

Yes God wants us to love him, but you can only love him if you get to know him, so this is why he tells us in his Word to get to know him by reading his Word to gain accurate Knowledge,(John17:3)So yes you get eternal life if you go to the right path. But what is the right path?Is it eternal life in heaven that you are aming for?Would you want your friends to please themselves take every Gift you give them, and everything you do for them without even thanking you, would you keep on giving them moore, or would you stop giving because they take it for granted that you willkeep on giving? Would you even keep them as friends?you can have eternal life without going to heaven or anywhere else you see God made the earth for us humans not, heaven, heaven was made for God and the Angels as a place to live, and the earth was for us humans, he did not create it simply for nothing, but to be inhabited forever(Isaiah45:18) about Hell ==>>
Most religions teach that bad people will go to a fiery Hell of eternal torture Hell Do you know that even Good people go to Hell when they die? Hell is really just the common grave of mankind,
Have you ever seen someone tortured? Hopefully not! Deliberate torture is sickening and abhorrent. What, though, of torture inflicted by God?Can you imagine such a thing? Yet this is exactly what is implied by the teaching of Hell an official doctrine of many religions.
Imagine for a moment, the following horrific scene:A person being roasted on a hot iron plate. In his agony he screams for mercy, but nobody listens. The torture goes on and on, hour by hour, day by daywithout any pause!Whatever chrime the victim may have committed, would not your heart go out to him? What of the one who ordered the torture? Could he be a loving person? In no way!Love is mercyfull and shows pity. A loving father may punish his children, but he would never torture them!
Nevertheless, many religions teach that God tortures sinners in endlesshellfire. This is claimed, is devine justice. If thatis true, who created that terrible place of eternal torment? And who is responsible for the excruciating agonies inflicted there? The answer would seem obvious. If such a place really exists, then God would have to be the creator of it, and he would be responsible for what happens there.
Can you accept that? The Bible says:"God is Love"(1John4:8)Would a God of love inflict torture that even humans with any measure of decency find revolting? Surely not! Still, many believe that the wicked will go to a fiery hell and be tormented for ever. Is this teaching logical? The human life span is limited to 70 or 80 years. Even if someone perpetrated Extreme wickedness for his entire lifetime, would everlasting torment be a just punishment? No it would be grossly unjust to torment a person forever for the limited number of sins that he can commit in a lifetime.
Who knows the truth about what happens after we die?
Only God can reveal this information, and he has done so, in his written word the Bible. Here is what the Bible says:"As the[beast]dies, so the[man]dies; and they all have but one spirit......All are goingto one place. They have allcome from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust

I've always wondered myself. Personally, if I'm "in fear" of someone, I keep out of his way as much as possible.
I believe it's possible to LOVE someone that you fear (battered wives often love their abusive husbands), but how can you possibly TRUST someone who's been violent, unpredictable, temperamental, and unfair?
