My friends stepdad really snores loudly! You can hear it across the hallway. She calls me all the time and says she can't sleep and either can her mom. Are there anyways for them to get some shut eye and him not snore at all or at least not as loud and much?

My husband used the Breathe Right strips for a while. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't.

So what I do every night is put an earplug in my left ear (the soft kind that you squish with your fingers). I fall asleep with my right ear on the pillow and it blocks out my husband's snoring, noisy parties from next door, car alarms, etc... If your friend doesn't just primarily sleep on one side, she could put in two earplugs. They sometimes come out of my ear at night, but it usually works really well.

Does he smoke or drink alchol, these will increase snoring, there are the breathright nose strips and breatright OTC medicine to help snoring, it depends how bad it is like does he have sleep apnea this is a seroius condition that needs doctor intervention.

wax earplugs are great as are light noise machines. As for making him stop snoring there are very few things. sometimes nose strips help, but a lot of times it is the make-up of the throat and surgery might not even help. I suggest really good earplugs.

Radio Shack used to sell this really annoying thing called "Noise Alert"...basically its a little device that lets you set the minimum noise threshold it's willing to tolerate before it sets off this big alarm clock-like noise and blinks a red light on and off for a few seconds. This is meant to be used in libraries to remind people to be quiet when they get too loud.

He needs to see his doctor. He could have a problem called sleep apnea. It can be treated, but a doctor has to diagnose it.

well I can bet he is over weight, it could be sleep apnea, there is a mini surgery where they insert this metal bridges in the back of the throat, fairly simple and inexpensive... works wonders
