You know you should talk to your friends about it, try to get a happier life and make more new goals and believing that you can make it. I was depressed like 1 year ago so I did this and I wasn't depressed anymore.

1) Communicate with others, so it does not get out of hand.
2) Spend time outdoors, sports, hiking, walking, park, etc. For some, depression occurs most when people spend too much time indoors.
3) Practice the Mindfulness of Breathing, also
Lovingkindness Meditation while walking
outdoors. Each only 10 min. a day.
4) Read about Philosophy = gives a person
purpose, and meaning in life. Tibetan Budd-
hism worked for me, but of course choose
whatever brings most meaning & help for you
5) Watch a good comedy movie, show or
T.V. series. Back when I use to read the
bible alot, many yrs. ago, I memorized a
Scripture which states, A merry (happy,
humorous) heart (mental state, attitude)
does good, like a medicine, but a broken
spirit (depression) dries up the bones
(makes one phycically, mentally, and
emotional Sick) !!
Humor always lifts our spirits,
encouraging us, helping us feel better, and
gives us a more optimistic outlook on life.
My son is very humorous in a way which
does no harm to another, but encourages
another, and makes a person laugh !
I'm a firm believer in Humor.
6) If you believe in the concept of a god, pray
for this often lifts a person up, to pray.
7) IF, and only IF, your depression is Really
Bad, to the point that it interferes with
your ability to live a happy, peaceful,
meaningful life, you may want to get some
professional help, DR., and get on some
legal prescribed drugs for depression,
such as Wellbutrin XL.
Be open minded. I'm sure you'll receive many
other most excellent answers.

One would need to do something that would increase the endorphins in the body. Aerobic exercise lasting a minimum of 30 minutes would do this. If exercise is not your thing, (It is so hard to stay motivated) then you would need to find something that you enjoy and spend some time getting involved in that. Talk to people who really care about you (Family) and ask for help with getting involved in activities or something that will help pull you out of depression. The only other option would be to talk to a medical professional. Please think about this. 7 out of 10 people go through periods of depression and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I tried therapy, positive thinking, tanning, all of the things they tell you to do, but nothing worked. I eventually had to get medicated and after switching through many different medications I finally found one that worked for me. Some people just need medication no matter what some people say. I am not crazy or lazy or faking, I am depressed and can not live my daily life without the help of my medicine. I have finally accepted this and am now living a normal and happy life!

i overcame depression by doing the textbook things....increased aerobic exercise, went to see a psychotherapist, started a prescription of Paxil. Eventually, time helped to heal things too.
