It's called lookism, or something like that. It's basically the fixation society has on how everyone HAS to be up to certain standards to be beautiful. We are drowning in a culture where people are quickly starting to look the same, because people feel they have to change themselves, to fit in with the the image society has imposed. It is not restricted to women either! Men have also lately been feeling the pressure to alter their appearances too. Rogaine, laser hair therapy, and all those stupid products that are supposed to make certain parts of the anatomy bigger. Media and advertising only push the bill because beauty is big business! People not feeling comfortable with how they look, make other people VERY rich! What are we gonna do when one day, everyone looks perfect, and absolutely the same? Will the tides then turn? Maybe the people with some flaws in appearance will become the beautiful?
In response to Alain Up there, What you say is NOT always true!! I am a bigger girl, I have been ALL of my life! As a child, I was VERY active, I walked all over town, I bicycled everywhere all the time, I had the advantage of living next door to a public swimming pool and swam nearly every day, and nearly every night my girl-friend and I would go out midnight maurauding on our roller blades. My family was always very poor, so we NEVER could afford junk food, ect. But all through childhood, I remained a chubby little girl. And I suffered at the hands of boys, men, and society in general. As an adult, I found that I had a medical condition that kept me fat, and now I have to take medicine every day, at 30, for the rest of my life. So call me crazy, but a womans size doesn't have to have anything to do with her pride, or how she takes care of herself. And usually girls only loose their pride AFTER they become a little chunky, and everyone makes them feel like SH*T for it!

relies upon on the lady. If she has a 36" waist yet measures 40 two" around the bust and hips, it is approximately stable. yet while she has a 36" waist and basically measures around 32" around the bust and hips, she's have been given a pot-abdomen. right it fairly is a stable rule of thumb: a woman's waist length could be a minimum of 6" under the two her bust or hips, whichever is SMALLER. And as quickly as a woman's waist length starts off getting over 36" she's evolving into the land of weight problems.

Hello Lizzy,
Here is the answer of a man with some years of life experience.
The size of a woman waist is an excellent indicator of the pride she has for herself, for how much she can care for herself and eventually of her boyfriend and her husband. It is an indication of how good she is at keeping her life in balance, between heart, brain, physical activities and eating habits.
As I say it is an indicator only, NOT THE ONLY OR THE ULTIMATE INDICATOR but a strong one. Some men do not look at it as an indicator at all.
And also remember that a young woman who is chubby and does not control her life habits, she will develop heavy health problems very early in her life.
Maybe you want to use it for yourself to help you balance your life priorities ?
Hope you can understand men a little better
Alain.

I prefer a woman's Intellect over her waist size. Though there are limitations. If she's obese then ... sorry but that sort of kills the attraction. But a little overweight is no problem at all.

well guys are visually stimulated. i guess that the way men really are made. we get attracted to your looks first before we try to see if you are brainy or good natured.
but of course that's where you separate the men from the boys. men will definitely look at the brains and heart after the waist. but boys generaly don't

They are more fixated with the first thing they see. Apperances because that is one of the things they first see so that might effect there judgement on who someone is without meeting them.

Because guys are visual and we will date someone who is horrible but pretty over someone cool but fat. Three hundred years ago fat was in and skinny was out....sorry.
That said, there are places you can go and have your pick of decent guys. Like a lumber camp in Canada or a construction site in the western desert. There is no place a poor, no game guy can go and have any luck with women.

Curves count! It's just nature. But, without heart and brain, the curves' appeal wears off in time.
