you are right, and that does bother me, they were middle eastern and so they were darker skin. as well as jesus, he was a jew, that doesnt mean he was white, he was an isrealite, dark skin.

Why? For the same reason they think Jesus was White or why they paint portraits of God the Father and TO THIS DAy they still look like Charlton Heston.
Their small minds can't possibly accept that God is not a white man. Can you imagine?! Many people would die to think their creator and savior was, dare I say, BROWN!
Yup, people are jerks. In all logic, Jesus was probably brown. People need to deal.

Let's look at your question from a scientific point of reference: DNA studies have established persuasive evidence that all currently living humans are the progeny of a woman (designated as "Eve") who originated in Africa in the distant past. The offspring of this woman and her mate (we might as well call him "Adam" logically) migrated throughout the world. Now, if you adopt the theory that those ancient emigrants, adapting to their various destinations' climates and conditions, experienced mutations which then determined their biological makeups, including skin and hair coloration and texture, you might conclude that "Eve" and "Adam, being Africans, were indeed dark-skinned with rough-textured hair. Wouldn't you?? We are all related genetically and undeniably...

As a child, I always thought they were white because every picture I saw that was supposed to be Adam and Eve showed them as white.
It wasn't until I started to study religion, in my last teens, that I surmised that they probably looked more middle eastern. My father believes they were black.

There's a reason G-d said for us not to create any images. Now look at the world's population thinks they're white.

You might as well ask why some people think Adam and Eve existed.
