It doesnt turn brown after taking out from refrigerator, only after its cut it turns brown due to oxidization process. Meaning the apple has come in contact with oxygen in the air.

The easiest way to prevent browning is to put the sliced apples in water so that the enzyme does not have access to oxygen. Or like wat the others are saying, adding something acidic. My mum adds a little salt.

I've wondered the same thing and will be paying attention to the answers you get. Have you seen 1/2 a banana after it's been cut and left uncovered for an hour? Yuck. Nobody would want to eat it either.

It's called "oxidation." When some foods are exposed to air, they discolor. The same thing happens to avacados.

The solution is to add something acidic to the product, like lemon juice on sliced apples and avacados.

(It's a chemical thing)

I agree with th1608. If you want to prevent the browning, use lemon juice to coat where you have cut. It also works to keep cut apples fresh longer.

Lemon juice works well but sometimes leaves a weird flavor.

Try using citrus flavored soda instead like 7up or fresca. Works just as well with no aftertaste!!
