Lancaster/Palmdale is nasty. It's where all the LA criminals go to get away from the city.

Lancaster, California is located in the "Antelope Valley" about 65 miles north of Los Angeles. It is technically in the "high desert" so it gets very hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. Housing costs are less than in the L.A. basin area so it is a growing community. It does have a lot of crime, most often having something to do with drugs.

Lacaster has changed so much in the past ten years. I lived there 86-92. It was quiet and not very crowded. Now, not so much. If you are going to live there, stay on the west side of the city. East side can tend to resemble a ghetto, with newer houses, but still ghetto. Try looking in Quartz Hill, it's an unicorporated town on the West Side, sandwiched between Lanc. and Palm. Still quiet there, not as hustle and bustle. If you plan on commuting to L.A., practice driving fast 70+. Slow cars piss people off, especially during commuting hours.

Lancaster? That's a crime city. Besides it's in middle of no where. Far away from everything. I wouldn't want to live there, even if somebody gave me a house for free. Well, if somebody gave me a house for free, I would sell it and buy it somewhere with that money.
