The marine corp recruiters are very determined (NICE WORDING) to get you to sign on. I am currently in Army ROTC and I feel that it is very respectable to join any one of the four branchs. They are all well disciplined and hard working. You just got to find your calling and join the branch that most interests you. DO NOT let recruiters work you over or push you into signing in... DO LOTS OF RESEARCH, for starters if you really want to be military and which branch you would like to be in...
But personally I would pick army :)
Hope this Helps
Jon

For one thing, what do you define as better?
- Higher combat efficiency?
- More cost effective?
- Better equipment or training?
- Better leadership or control?
It is true that in comparison to the US Army, Marines do get stricter training requirements in some fields, but that is about it. The US Army does have more of the "heavy" stuff, though, like M1 tanks, etc. The Marines actually have more aircraft than the US Air Forces, but many of these are cheaper, or helicopters with less punch than fixed wing aircraft. Also, the Marine Corps has the lowest officer to enlisted men ratio - a good thing, I think that it is too high in all of the other services.

Try talking to someone besides those who do the least of the fighting or dieing!
The Air Force has lost 32 in Iraq, the Navy 66, the Marines 875 and the Army 1,994!
They brag a lot! They may be good fighters, but they are far from the best!

Consider the source...Actually the Marines falls under the Navy.
Overall, I think the Navy SEALs are the best.
But as a fighting force overall all, which breaks down to a competition of Army vs. Marines, then the average Marine is probably better then the average Army guy.

Army all the way. Im not putting down the Marine Corps, but honestly, they do take too much credit for what they do. The Army has been, is, and always will be the primary ground fighting force of the US!!!

Well, of course the former Marines are going to say that the Marine Corps is better. Just like I will say, as a former Soldier, that the Army is better:)

Of course a Marine is gonna say they're the best!! It's probably the most demanding, next to Seals, that you can get in military training! I would be proud to complete that--I would feel like the best, for sure!
Don't go for the Marines unless you are prepared to go through hell--they don't take no sissies!

Marines are the best, take it from me I been there 3 times to Iraq...Marines are the Department of the Navy, but We are the men's department. Lets face facts Marines are always first to go, we go there and make it safe for other Branch's to come in. Second Navy Seals are tough, but there no Force Recon, Force Recon Marines trains harder than seals. We ofcourse go to jump school, dive school, sere, free fall school, various training including mountain, cold, jungle, etc etc. Also Marines go to ranger school, pathfinders, etc etc. We work together we other special forces including Navy Seals, Ranger, Delta Force, and so on. But Marine Training is the best. Look the FBI comes to the Marines to be snipers, we train FBI agents to shoot. You look at history you have top Generals including Patton,Eisenhower, and other saying that the best troops under their command were Marines. You have a admiral in the Navy saying Uncommon valor was a common virtue, referring to Marines. You have Presidents serving in the Army, Navy, and Air Force saying Marines are the best. Marines also have a saying once a Marine always a Marine, and our first job in the Marines is that every Marine is a riflemen first.

Okay first of all the person from that branch will say theirs is the best. I'm in the Air Force an of course I think the Air Force is the best. But if I step back an look from the "outside", all the branch's need each other. We all work together.

Well, it depends on what criteria you use to rank as the best. They all have strengths that make them stand out above the other branches. I would have to say the Marines are the most dedicated and exuberant of the branches.
