Gift certificates are always a safe bet, but not too much fun. I don't want to go the "too mean" route about turning 40 as he's recently been through a lot of negative stuff (seriously ill parent, job issues, etc.).
Any guys out there have suggestions? Preferably of the legal and under $500 sort? lol

His interests include running, music (he's a drummer), and computers, if that helps.

Anyone? *knock knock knock* Is this thing on?

How about a scuba lesson or a ticket to an upcoming concert.

When I turned 40 I went to St. Lucia and had a spa day. Would tickets to a show of his interest (since he's a drummer) work? Does he go to a gym - how about a trial membership there. Or a makeover (clothes-wise). Hope this helps.

I always like something I can keep for awhile. It makes me think of the person for a long time. Clothes are good, or maybe something to cheer him up since he's been through alot.
