I am sadden by the number of young people I see asking whether they should smoke either to impress a boy or to be cool or for whatever reason.
My grandmother asked me one time if I would feed my dog poison because everytime you smoke a cigarette you are feeding your dog poision. Smoking is a BIG BIG BIG monkey. If you don't think so just look at all of the stop smoking aides in the drugstores. It has been a personal battle for a long time. It takes years for cigarettes to take their effect on your body. But once they do it is to late. If you never start smoking you will never want a cigarette.
I know this may seem dumb. But I know there are a lot of young people on this Yahoo Answers thing. If you are considering smoking please stop to think. You will not be able to just smoke for a little while. You will start the monkey will grow and you will wake up and be 40 years old out of breath and just thinking about your next cigarette.
Just don't smoke.

Not your dog. Everytime you smoke you are feeding yourself poison. How come you can't edit the question?

I totally agree and am with "SANDY" Why the hell was it so important for me to fit into anything in school? I have since high school, Quit for three years, started back up for two months and quit again for three months now. It is an awful HABIT and the only way to make the future brighter is to try and NOT ENDORSE it with our children. It makes everything smell, and (the person who smokes) doesn't even notice cause there Scent is Paralyzed. People just need to find out how to deal w/ life w/out reaching for that pack, when a stressful event occurs. I do commend anyone and everyone who has been on both sides of the track as it is a hard addiction to control and to keep controlled

Very well put, to edit a question, I think you have to ask another one, if editing after posting was allowed it could get ugly fast.
I have smoked for 20 years or so and cannot understand why I wanted to fit in with whoever that group was in Jr. High. I start the patch thing next month, am tired of being tired.

I would not feed my dog posion, but my dog better lay off my smokes! Cigarette or cigar smoke does not affect animals the way it does the human body. It is everyone choice whether to start or stop smoking. True, if you never start you never have to worry about quitting, but feeding poision to a dog has nothing at all to do with this question.

Seriously, the local media gave very clear results what will happen to those who smoke, but still there are new smokers every year. I do advise my friends not to smoke and give examples of my relatives who died from smoking, but there's nothing much we can do. It's their own decisions to poison themselves.

Tobacco is a dirty week
It makes you thin
It makes you lean
and it will take your hair right off your bean

It shortened my parent life by many years.
It killed my brother at an early age.
My mother in law got cancer and she did not smoke but her son was a chain smoker and she died as a result of his addiction.
My brother in law got lung cancer and his last 15 years was very painful
I have talked to many people who are glad they do not smoke but I have never talked to a smoker who was glad he started.
Its your call

Smoking sucks azz. My mom does it all the time, and I stink like an ashtray b/c of her. I hate that ungreatful b*tch more than my life itself.

Feeding your self poison, not to mention heart disease, gum disease, lung cancer, and the list goes on. Not only that, you will stink like an ashtray. Ask these kids to smell an ashtray full of butts, and ask them if they would like to kiss someone who smells like that. Im sure they will get the message.
