I have all caps on my top teeth. One cap next to my front tooth fell out of my mouth when I bit into some hard candy. The cap is not broken and it will "fit" back in place. What can I get to make it "stick" in place until I can get to the dentist? Is there something I can buy at the drug store? Also, how much should I expect to pay if I have to get a "bridge" because it doesn't look like there is enough tooth left to put another cap on it. HELP!!!

Fill the crown with a small amount of toothpaste and put it back into place. Call your dentist immediately to make an appointment to have the tooth evaluated and, if possible, have the crown recemented. Do not just "stop in," because it is not an emergency. Your dentist may have 4 patients in the office that need his attention and you could wait for hours in the reception area. Even if there is not enough tooth above the gumline currently to cement the crown onto, it is possible that a post can be placed that can hold the crown on after the tooth has been root canal treated. This would obviously be an appointment that could take several hours and would need to be scheduled in advance. I hope your tooth is quickly and easily fixable. Good luck.

Let your dentist put the cap back on. If it has been done well that's an expensive little piece you're holding and you don't want to damage it. All you have to do is stop into the office, it's an emergency and they'll see you. Plus it doesn't take that long to glue on a crown. Depending on the bridge it can run from 500-2000 dollars. But don't panic, you'd be surprised at what a good dentist can put a crown back onto, and if it's only one tooth you could do an implant. It's expensive but it looks great! Good luck with everything.

Call your dentist and they will recement the crown. They'll fit you in for an appointment. I would not just "stop in". That is a poor practice for any business.

Don't assume that all is lost and you will need a bridge. It may be just fine.
