OMG... i had braces. When i first got them on they didn't hurt but after like an hour iot startedto kill. I used aberterol Jr. It numbs your gums so that you don't feel anything. I also made sure not to go back to school :). Oh yeah DON"T EAT FOOD. only like liquids and yogurt or any other soft things that you don't have to chew.

Hope this helps b/c braces sucked but it's tottally worth every second and every penny. DOn't worry, you'll get used to the feeling of them and they will stop hurting after like 24 hours.

Also when you get the mtightened, it hurts the first couple of times, but only for like 15 hours.

Make sure to use albuterol. (i'm not sure on the spelling, sorry)

you should expect some discomfort. It isn't very painful, but afterwards you will be sore for several weeks. Don't let this concern you as it is normal. Eventually you won't notice they are even on. You will have periodic adjustments, and again, you will be sore, but again that will go away. Ask the Orthodonist what you should take.

The day after I got them was the worst day of my life. Anytime my teeth touched it felt like an electric shock. Have lots of yogurt and jello on hand to eat because you won't be able to close your teeth for a couple days. The actual process isn't that bad though

If you wanna be able to chew your food, then take advil or motrin or tylenol. It hurts like CRAP the first day or so. At least that's what I remember. Rubber bands hurt at first too though. Sorry to break the news. Take advil or anothe rpainkiller beforehand!

they arent that bad
you just cant eat anyting hard the first few days

it goes away and you're fine, its more of a tenderness, so painkillers dont really help anyway, as long as you're not eating it doesnt hurt
