Are ya kidding me?? I just moved baack from there! There's a reason why you don't have to stop at red lights between 12:00a.m -6:00a.m. Not worth the trip, kinda rundown there. The only areas beautiful is where man hasn't touched. Other than that i suggest getting in touch with your travel agent again and find some place else.

Is NY safe to visit? is Miami safe to visit?....it all depends where are You staying..where are you going and for what purposes...
do You go into Bad neighborhoods wher You live?
Puerto Rico has Big cities like Carolina and Bayamon..where Public housing are dangerous areas but No tourist or people that don't live there..visit them..
so stay in the city..visit all the Tourist spots ..the country side (el Campo) is very Safe and people are very Friendly...if You have friends that live there..you'll be ok..
If not contact a Tour company or visit www.welcometopuertorico.org

I lived in Puerto Rico all my life and never had a problem. You just have to be careful like everywhere. I think sweetness needs to stop saying all those bad things about my island if she just lived there for such a short period of time.
Puerto Rico has the best music, food and people! It is full of history, Spanish architecture and beautiful scenery. What else can you ask for? Hope you decide to visit!

Yes, but like any place ..there area areas to avoid and you should inquire from a good travel book for a safe, clean, affordable hotel.
I always like tours as there is safety in numbers. If you go out by yourself you are taking a chance...but most tourist areas are safe during the normal business hours.

Are you kidding? PR is high crime. Not even safe for the locals.... I have family there and sure know the score... The last count, more than 25 homicides since Jan 1st. That sure doesn't sound safe to me or anyone in their right mind. You would be safer in the streets of East LA (El Barrio) in the wee-hours of the night on Friday/Sat night.

Yes it is... People there are very friendly to tourist, but I would not recommend you to go to the barrios just stay in the tourist attraction and you will really enjoy it... If you ever been in any other country you will understand that there are always places that tourist should avoid, Like in the U.S for example you wouldn't go to east L.A. or Queens if you are not from there right... But if you stay in Malibu in L.A. or in New York City then as a tourist you will love it, that is who it is there.... Just go and you will not regret it...
