I would like to know if in a family of conniving, plotting, and secrets (like the family in "the lion in winter" by, james goldman) could possibly also posses unconditional love for each other?
thanx.

Sure...most families are basically dysfunctional anyway...I don't know anyone that doesn't have their share of problems. But that doesn't mean they don't love one another. Just because you love someone doesn't mean that you have to like them or their actions...

Love can deal with the most difficult situations, but this thing of "unconditional love" sounds weird for me. Love have a condition: to be reciprocated. If you love someone who doesn't love you, this love is going to end. It is just like a plant, without water is not going to survive and grow. Love should grow each day and in the family it can grow with elements like communication, sincerity, abnegation, interest in the members of the family. These are a must in a family for it to function and survive. Without these elements the family is going to get disintegrated as is getting usual in our days.

I would say yes. That's the exact description of my family, and yet we always love each other...no matter what.
