Because that's what happened when I tried it.
I was wondering if that is a temporary side effect, or if I'm just weird.
Really, my sensitivity isn't bad (stuff out of the refrigerator doesn't bother me, but frozen stuff does), until I tried the toothpaste, then it was so bad I couldn't stand it. I couldn't open my mouth and let in cold air, or I'd scream in pain. That's how bad it was after using it maybe 3 times.

For all the idiots, no I don't use it anymore, I'm just wondering if anyone else had this reaction.

Sensodyne Makes Teeth More Sensitive

2016-10-28 16:16:22 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 1 1

My teeth are now sensitive, this only happened after using Sensodyne pro enamel, which I started to use as I thought this would be good for the enamel on my teeth, when I used normal toothpaste I do not feel this pain
in my teeth as much, this is weird, I thought Sensodyne was supposed to help.

Sensodyne is effective with helping sensitive teeth...but only if it is the Sensodyne that DOES NOT contain whitening...any toothpaste with whitening will make your teeth more sensitive. If after using regular Sensodyne for a few weeks you have not noticed an improvement you should see your local dentist or orthodontist to have a sensitivity treatment preformed.

My dentist suggested I use this an get the type with no tooth whitener in it. Looked up this question as the minute I put Sensodyne toothpaste on my teeth, it made them ache. Never had a reaction to toothpaste before! So maybe I will stop using it as seems weird.

the problem with sensodyne toothpaste or any other sensitive teeth toothpaste is that you have to use it ever day, and then maybe after 6 months will you start noticing a difference. it is not a overnight remedy there are sort of gels that the dentist can put on your teeth, but nothing is a permenant solution. enamel cannot grow back ones it is destroyed. if you have recession of your gums and your root is exposed if it is quite a big chunk you can get a filling put on top of it. you maybe griding/clenching your teeth at night unconsciously which can cause wearing away of enamel and recession around the gumline which will cause senstitivity. check with your doctor...he/she can tell you more of your options if there are any at all....good luck

YES! YES! YES!
I was shocked when I put the toothpaste to my teeth and almost jumped out of my skin it hurt so much! I tried mixing it with my regular toothpaste and will see how that goes. I am hoping to alter the amounts of each to the point where I can, if ever, only use the sensodyne. Very disappointed!

I used it for a while. Never had that sort of reaction. Although I think that it takes some time before the toothpaste becomes effective at reducing sensitivity.

The important thing is to see a dentist. Sensitivity is a sympton of other problems that need to be addressed by something other than toothpaste.

What a scam !!!! My husband bought this, so I used it.I never had sensitive teeth. This made my teeth, sensitive in a week. I mentioned this to my daughter and she said she thought she was crazy. She used some at a friends house on a weekend visit and her teeth hurt for weeks after. I guess if your teeth hurt you'll keep using it. I suspect and question everything these day.
