thats always the adjective girls and some guys refer to me as. Im not sure whether thats a flattering term or not for a guy. what do you think. i mean i could be called ugly so its not that bad but what are these people meaning behind the comment.

Not getting the picture. Maybe (and I dont mean to insult you) they think you're so good-looking that you almost have a "feminine-quality" to your looks.
Perhaps you could post a pic of yourself for a better explanation.
Other than that-- think about Orlando Bloom-- he's very handsome (according to me and some other people I suppose)-- and he has a sort of "feminine-quality" to his looks.
It doesnt mean that he's gay or ugly---that's just the way his face appears to some people.
Bottom Line: LIKE YOURSELF (and ignore other people's opinions)

I think they lack the right words. I have said a man is cute and I know they don't like that either so I do not say that really anymore. Jokingly may say that's almost as cute as you are. But they could use handsome, hot, stunning, very good looking, I do not know a guy that likes to be called pretty.

I sometimes call my fiance pretty, and he is in no way "girlish"... I just don't like the word handsome because it sounds funny, and sexy, hot, attractive, any of those other words just don't seem to sum it up like pretty does... I don't even know if that makes sense, but that's my reasoning. I don't mean anything rude by using it... and he knows my reasoning and he doesn't mind it at all..
If it really bothers you, tell them about it.

It's a huge compliment to be pretty. Why say ugly is better? No one takes the ugly seriously, no one lves the ugly, no one wants the ugly. You want to be sexy? Work on being pretty sexy and smart. Use it to your advantage!!

I understand what you are saying...but don't take it to heart.
I think 'Johnny Depp' has a pretty quality about him and I know a friend who agrees...but she is also extremely hot for him.
