I rip the receipts at work and the receipts I have from stores into little itty pieces. As a kid, I used to rip twigs into tiny pieces and put them all into a big pile. I did the same with leaves and long pieces of grass. I used to have specific containers for these pieces of ripped leaves. ("salad")

Anyone have any ideas? Would it be considered an impulse control disorder?

OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. Anti depressants can help with this behaviour. See your doctor if it bothers you

OCD for sure, try knitting or making something to get your mind off of ripping things to tiny pieces. This isn't even bad OCD I've seen worse. Just do something else. It'll help.
