He'll calm down after he's neutered. And it is possible he is bored. Make sure he has enough toys (especially catnip toys).

The answer depends on if he is biting and clawing when he is playing or if he is being aggressive and angry and his attacks are unprovoked. If it is in play and he is too rough, the best thing to do is immediately stop the play session when he gets too rough and walk away and ignore him for a period of time. He will eventually learn that playing roughly stops the play. By 7 months old, he should be old enough to learn to play nicely without using teeth and claws - most kittens learn this with their littermates.

If his biting and clawing is an aggressive attack upon you that breaks the skin, especially if it is unprovoked during the course of normal handling, you have a more serious problem. Cat aggression of that kind is very difficult to solve and it may mean that he is not a good candidate as a pet cat.

All cats and kittens are different and will mature and outgrow certain behaviors at different ages. The cat I have now didn't outgrow the biting/clawing stage until she was around 10 months or so. She's just a really energetic cat with a wild personality (who as a kitten had an obsession with nipping at my toes while I slept). Your cat should calm down within a couple of months, just give it time. And be sure to keep plenty of toys out to redirect that kitten aggression!

I brought home a rescued kitten when he was 7 weeks old. He was definitely a playful kitten, and as he got to be a couple of months old he would chew on my thumbs and tear up the couch pillows and anything else he could dig his claws into. When Aslan got to be 6 months old I finally wisened up and bought him a scratching post. Since then, I have not seem scratch or bite anything else other than the post.

never. That's why I hate them. You can play for the longest time then all of a sudden without warning they will bite you and scratch you and take off like a bat out of hell. No thank you. Ignorant animals.

My kitty does this too and she is 5 months, my hands are all marked up. Reading these answers, I guess it will take a while.
