a first date huh? hmmm. well my first dates have been good ones for me, all I did was walk and talk with them and some times even a drink.(coffee) or movie. rental movie is better you control everything as far your surroundings

Try going to the grocery store together. This could be fun, especially if it is a progressive store like Wegman's or Fred Meyer or Trader John. It's fun to talk about the products.
Or, indoor rock climbing could be fun if you and your date can handle it.
Water skiing or snow skiing would be fun too.
I would opt for something unusual - not just eating out and a movie. That should come later when the two people are more comfortable with each other.

I would say going to the movie and after that going to a good place to eat. Get a little talk going on and that's about it. Hope evrything goes well.
