You might be depressed and are self-medicating with alcohol. You need to get a handle on this. Becoming severely dependent on a substance can make your life a living hell.

Alcohol can make people feel uninhibited. Many people with depression or insecurities turn to alcohol to help relieve these negative feelings. If you are not deriving any enjoyment out of life without drinking first you run the risk of developing dependency. What can you do about it? See a therapist, go to AA meetings, inform your friends that you do not want to drink (so the temptation does not arise), get a hobby or find a new exercise activity to distract you. Exercise releases serotonin, which increases feelings of happiness. This helps people suffering from depression.
Good luck.

Boy if that dont bring back memories. That was me years ago. I have a few years under my belt now.I drank to be happy, I drank to be sexy, I drank to be funny, I drank to be all the things I couldnt be sober. And truthfully it all stems back to my childhood.I was an abused child. Mentally and physically. My parents were alcoholics. All thru school I was the quite, shy girl you would see sitting all by herself.I picked up my first drink when I was 14 and WOW,I liked it. I liked what it made me become. I could talk to people, man I could dance!!!This was heaven!Until some years went by,and the alcohol wasnt feeling very good anymore. It took complete control of my life. It told me I could drive better when I was drunk.I listened to it and got my first D.W.I. for going up a one woy street.I would go into black outs and hated to hear the next morning "Do you know what you did last night?" I would wake up with the shakes and feeling terrible. The years carried on,I wake up in jails wondering how the hell I got there......Until one day I woke up shaking, throwing up, and I said I am sick and tired of being sick and tired..... I have not had anything to drink for 7yrs now.I am working on my life. I am finding out why I needed alcohol to laugh, to talk,to live.....I know I went into alot of shet, but I just hope this helps you. To understand you dont need alcohol to enjoy life. Get professional help. There are people out there wanting to help you. You dont have to go thru the hell I did.And believe me hon, you can enjoy life without the devil. You will be in my prayers. God Bless!

i used to feel the same way. For years i drank to be happy and have fun. I had very low self esteem and was kind of a shy person and drinking made me feel good about myself and I was not a bit shy when I drank. But sooner or later drinking takes control over who you are and they way your life is heading. i quit drinking four years ago and I had to learn how to have fun and feel good about myself. Now I am truly happy with who i am and where my life is. I wish you all the luck in the world. Take it from someone who has been there you can be happy sober!!!
