We have two peach faced lovebirds. One of them plucks excessively and is getting ugly. We have tried everything. We have taken them to a vet and had them tested, there is no medical reason for the plucking. We have changed their diet to something reccomended by our vet and bird breeders. We have introduced more stimulating toys to their environment and bought them a much bigger cage. Two days ago, at the advise of a bird breeder and with our own forethought, we split the birds up. They are siblings and "fight" often. We put their cages adjacent to each other so they wouldn't be too lonely. This is not helping either! The plucking bird just won't stop and I am at a loss for things to try. I really don't want it to go bald, i've seen a bald love bird and it looked so helpless and sick. I'm trying really hard but don't know what to do. I'll take any suggestions.
Thank You!!!!

I had this same problem with my two lovebirds. I split them up and got them each a new friend. This has seemed to help no plucking in the last two months. Give this a try see how it works for you

Separate them and stop them from fighting it is probly stressing the plucker out. Plucking is a sign of the birds unhappiness so changing its liffestyle may stop him from plucking. You can also try some bitter apple spray.

give it extra attention ( i say that to any plucking bird even if stress is not the cause attention never hurts) i would suggest a preening toy that they can preen also spray shower it

I'd try a new vet.

You can look for other vets near you at http://aav.org/vet-lookup
