TheKnot.com is hands down the best resource I have ever used! It has it all! If you cannot find it there, I doubt that you can find it!
Best of luck!

Hi
First let me give you some guideline on the wedding planning timeline:
source : http://www.klikks.com/wedding_planning_timeline
"Secondly let me introduce you to Ms Stefi Stewart
In her "eye opening" book, Stephi Stewart reveals how she beat the wedding industry at it's own game and made her dream wedding come true, saving over $10,000 in the process. Inside she demonstrates step-by-step how any bride can take control of her wedding, avoid industry scams, get insider prices and much more... Definitely a "Must Read" if you're a "bride on a budget!"

Lots of research is time and effort well spent to realise your dream wedding. Good luck!!

http://www.brides2wives.com/
This forum is about wedding planning & also other topics, but it all started out as a wedding planning site, then evolved in to more than that over time.
I would be more than happy to offer any ideas or guidance along the way. Feel free to email me through this profile.

you should get a wedding planner book and the book tells you how to start and what to do in what order. then all you do is find the things at the prices you want. www.weddingchannel.com

Try www.customweddingsolutions.com. They have free planning guides, free song guides, free toast and speech guides PLUS all the great stuff you need for your wedding like cake tops, tiaras, veils, favors, invites, attendant gifts, rose petals.....
We used them for almost all our wedding items and we absolustly LOVED their service and prices! I highly recommend you check them out. I didn't need to use it cuz my stuff was great, but they do even accept returns! Check em out. THey're wonderful!
I think they sell planning books as well having the free guides. You can also email them with specific questions and they get back to you the same day.

I highly recommend theknot.com. You can find everything you need from local vendors in your area, to budget checklists and reception ideas. It is a great resource.
For a book, check out this link. I ordered this from Barnes and Noble and it is fantastic! It has dividers for each section, every checklist imaginable, calendar pages, business card holders, 3 hole punch, calculator....everything you will ever need!!! And congratulations!
