well if your asking this because you are taking the pain pills for the reason they were prescribed. then just tell your prospective boss you are taking them and why you are they should understand and be able to tell that drug form a different drug in your system.

I am an owner of a trucking co and by the fedral standards we test our driver according to DOT regulations barbituates, marijuanna, methamphetimens, cocain, phencyclidine, opiates. These are what we test for and as far as I know it's a pretty common drug panel for most employers. Some prescriptions can make you pop positive, however the MRO (the dr that reads your test result) will call you and ask what medication you are on if you pop positive. If you have a valid prescription in your name there will not be an issue, but they may ask you to test again. If you took something like asprin tylenol, excedrin etc it WILL NOT MAKE YOU POP POSITIVE. If you took something like Darvocet it will pop you positive. But you did state you took the medication a few days ago as long as it wasn't within 72 hrs, you should be okay. I hope this helps you.

Recreational use of painkillers is illegal and dangerously addictive.
If you were seeking employment in my company and popped positive for prescription meds, I would ask for you to bring me documented proof that you NEED the meds. If no proof is given, no job is given either.
At any rate, if you are getting a urine test, it will show up for a little while.
If they give you a hair follicle test, you are frakked. Nothing you can do to hide that one. Hope you're not the illegal type.

Detection Periods in Urine
Opium 24-48 hrs
Heroin 1-4 days
Morphine 84 hrs (at least)
Meperidine 4-24 hrs
Your looking at Opium for your test so 24-48 hrs.... if you fail blame it on poppy seeds and re-test oxy free

I was on that during a drug test at work. Tell them what medications you are taking. Not a big deal really....
Take the bottle with you that has your doctors name on it.

If you had the meds via a prescription (of your own!), you may have to show proof, but you should be okay.
