I am not extremely familiar with the Old Testament prophecies, as I haven't read the Bible in probably 10 years. I keep hearing mention of prophecies in the Old Testament which have come true and I was wondering if you could give me examples of some. You don't have to quote the Bible scripture, or you can, whatever works; a brief mention of the prophecy and occurrence will work. Thanks. Oh, and please don't take offense, I am honestly curious and not attempting to mock. I'm just not certain about what the prophecies were.

On some of the answers the prophecy mentioned is Jesus coming. That's a fair answer, but I was looking for more that I could research outside of here, which can't be done with Jesus since the Bible is all of the historical evidenc of his existence. I still appreciate the answers, but for those who answered Jesus if you know of others it would be great to hear about them. Thanks.

There is hundreds of specific propehices proclaiming the life of Jesus. For instance riding on a donkey, being born in Bethleham, being hung on a cross, being betrayed, rising from the dead after three days. Also there were prophecies that Jesus foretold like the temple being destroyed and not one stone left standing. The Romans destroyed the city of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Also there were prophecies concerning Caleb and Joshua, that they would be the only ones that would make it into the promise land. All the other Israelites died, including Moses.

There is also many endtime prophecies being fufilled.

Like the Berlin Wall Coming down.

Revelations 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

This propehcy doesnt make sense until you understand the beast

The four beast in Daniel & its also found in Revelations
The Lion with eagles wings that were plucked
Declaration of Indepedance USA (eagle) Lion ( Great Brittian)
The bear ( Russia) ( The four headed Leopard- Germany with 4 reichs) The ten horned beast- The World Constitution and Parliament Association has laid the world out in ten regions.

They are already talking about the 7 year peace treaty, which would set off the last 7 years

Christians will be around during the Great Tribulation (Satans Wrath)

Under the NWO, economic sanctions will be brought against those that don't take the mark of the beast.

By 2008 everyone in the US, is required to have a national id. This is serious because they will be able to keep track of every move you make, like the amazonian tree frog.

Signs We Are Living in the Last Days

The mirco chip is soon to be implemented, already the National id, one step away
'he causeth all, both great and small, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their forehead'
number is 666- the micro chip uses a 18 bit word: 3 bit characters 6-6-6

The rise of the NWO, globalization
The bible predicts a one world governental system, one world religious system, one world leader, and the society we live in today is moving fastly towards such a thing. Look at the back of the dollar bill. The words Novus Ordo Seclorum ( New World Order). The war in the Iraq is attempt to bring this about.

The rebuilding of the Jewish temple
The Red Heifer has been found which is necessary for Jewish sacrifices
Knowledge increased in the latter days
Travel to and fro (planes, cars)
The rebirth of Israel as a nation
Wickedness has increased (crimes have gone up signifincally)
Many false religion and teachers
Mankind would be capable of destroying human life (atomic bomb)
Anti semitism will be prevalant
Russia (Magog) would rise as a military power
The Euphrates River would be dried up (Revelation 16:12). Today, the massive Ataturk Dam in Turkey,
Men would be lovers of themselves
Youth would become increasingly rebellious
Jesus said Christians would be hated for His name's sake
Homosexuality would become acceptable (Luke 17:28-30).

The four horseman of the apocalpyse
white horse- catholisim
black horse- capatlism
red horse- communism
pale green horse- Islam

Some of the trumpets are also known
1- world war 1
2- world war 2
3- chernobyl
4- time speeds up
5- gulf war
6- trumpet we are living in now

Notice it starts in the Great River Euphrates (present day Iraq)

and kills 1/3 part of mankind

also it is a war most likely against Islam

since they will not be a rebelling force in the endtime

The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.

It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates." And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.

The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur. A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.

The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts

7- Jesus Returns

We are also living in the last empire known as the holy roman empire which started when charlamane was crowned by Pope Leo. If you look at Daniels propehcy he told Nebuchadrezzar his dream was about a huge image made of various materials (gold, silver, brass, iron, and iron mingled with clay.) Notice Iron was Rome Empire. The Iron mingled with clay is the empire we now live in. This means that the false prophet will be the pope. The Roman Papacy says the next pope will be evil. Because they have run out of symbols, He is called Petrum Romanum.

There are so many more signs that are known, that imply the end is indeed here.

There is many other sources that proclaim the existance of Jesus. They obviously woudln't have prophecies about him, that wouldn't make much sense.

Non-Christian sources for Jesus

• Tacitus (AD 55-120), a renowned historical of ancient Rome, wrote in the latter half of the first century that ‘Christus ... was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius: but the pernicious superstition, repressed for a time, broke out again, not only through Judea, where the mischief originated, but through the city of Rome also.’ (Annals 15: 44).

• Suetonius writing around AD 120 tells of disturbances of the Jews at the ‘instigation of Chrestus’, during the time of the emperor Claudius. This could refer to Jesus, and appears to relate to the events of Acts 18:2, which took place in AD 49.

• Thallus, a secular historian writing perhaps around AD 52 refers to the death of Jesus in a discussion of the darkness over the land after his death. The original is lost, but Thallus’ arguments — explaining what happened as a solar eclipse — are referred to by Julius Africanus in the early 3rd century.

• Mara Bar-Serapion, a Syrian writing after the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, mentions the earlier execution of Jesus, whom he calls a ‘King’.

• The Babylonian Talmud refers to the crucifixion (calling it a hanging) of Jesus the Nazarene on the eve of the Passover. In the Talmud Jesus is also called the illegitimate son of Mary.

• The Jewish historian Josephus describes Jesus’ crucifixion under Pilate in his Antiquities, written about AD 93/94. Josephus also refers to James the brother of Jesus and his execution during the time of Ananus (or Annas) the high priest.

The prophecies which failed to stand the muster of history tend to be those of a national-centric historical nature. The one which comes most readily to mind is the prophecy that Nebuchadnezzar would get Tyre as his reward. Never h appened and the prophecy was revised to be Egypt. Some of the minor prophets suggests more of a restoration than was experienced historically after the Exile, but the texts can also be read as prophecies of spiritual restoration aka Jesus.
Go ahead and read it again - it only gets better. :0)

There are many recordings of those that were fulfilled with the coming of Jesus Christ into the world which are stated in Luke's Gospel.

One great one concerns the descendents of Abraham, grandfather of Jacob/Israel. God tells Abraham that his descendents will have Canaan.

Gen 15:12-16

12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. 13 Then the LORD said to him, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions. 15 You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age. 16 In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure."
(from New International Version)

About FOUR HUNDRED years later, the children of Isreal are finally released from enslavement in Egypt and are led by Moses to the "promised land", the land of Canaan.

AND the Jews still live their as God promised.

Well the most important prophecy is the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ- which is mentioned throughout the entire Old Testament....and is infact the meaning of life- God's plan for salvation of man. And infact this did come true! The root of Jesse is one sign:
Isaiah 11:1
[ The Righteous Reign of the Branch ] There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.

Isaiah 11:10
In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a signal for the peoples--of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious.

-You do know about how they used to sacrifice animals for sin offerings right? God planned for Jesus to die on the cross and rise again, to be the one sacrifice for sins- so no longer is a bull or goat needed, but our confession to Jesus we have sinned and repentence is needed now- To believe that He is the Lord of all and has come to save sinners. And that is how salvation came. And many knew of His coming in the OT--even though they were not there to witness it-

most of them have come true because the prophets were talking about thing that were going tok happen within a few years of when the were said. this is also the case with revolations. most people want to think they were talking about our times but could not even imagine our time back then. just like we can not predict what will happen 2000 years from now.
