We all want that. Every single human being wants to be closer to God. Some people - especially ones who vocally scoff at the mention of God's name - are like rebellious kids who tell their parents "I hate you" when they get mad.

The most important thing you can do to get closer to God is to give yourself to Him. Ask Him to use you for His glory. Don't think of God as a genie who is there to grant your wishes - think of God as the most amazing, powerful, loving, creator of everything in the universe. Ask Him how you can glorify Him, and He will show you.

Wow...i am sorry there are so many sarcastic people on here! You ask for help and you are mocked. Here's my answer. There IS a God, creator of the universe and everything in it. i do not understand how people can still think that there is not. Since you apparently do believe that there is a God, then that is a great start. i will say that in my experience in my relationship with the Lord that it is very much a journey. It started slowly, when i was 12 and continued from there. When i became an unwed mother at 23, i turned to God for strength and answers. Since that time, my relationship with God has gotten stronger and stronger. i have too many evidences in my life that God does exist to believe any other way. Faith and trust in Him are things that simply take practice. When you fail, you repent, ask forgiveness, and move on, trying to do better next time. There are many, many times when i have wished that God or Jesus could stand in front of me and TELL me what to do in certain situations. But really all we need to know is in the Bible. If you have a local church that you attend, try to find a bible study group that allows discussion of the Word. It is not enough just to say "read the Bible." Reading the Bible is essential, but you have to have help understanding what you are reading! i hope this helps! Best wishes!

Very nice question. The first step is a simple prayer telling God how you feel and what you need help with. Remember, God always hears you but answering according to what you expect doesn't always happen. Then look in God's word for help. A closer relationship with God will eventually develop after daily devotions and praying. Think about God in all the free time you have. I felt like this before. Now I feel like God loves me so much that I can feel his love embrace me. Listen the clean, Christian music that refreshes your soul and make you want to praise God. After you spend more time reading the Bible and praying, you will get to know your creator more and love Him. Most of all read this: Do not go to any website or read any other religious books yet. It sounds like you are a new Christian. The devil wants you to be confused from all the different teachings. There are many forms of Christianity and not all are totally scripture based. Only read the Bible and pray. After God has touched your heart you can use His wisdom to tell which teachings are correct and what is not. I'll be praying for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pray: Tell Him that would want to try and build a closer relationship with him and you will feel yourself growing closer. Pray when times are good too, to thank God for all the good that is happening in your life.

Go to church: If you go to church already then go to church more often. Pray and sing about your praise to God. You will eventually feel yourself really getting into the whole idea.

Think about him more often: You don't have to think about God every second of the day but take those extra few seconds every once in a while to just talk to God.

Just generally become more involved. Thank God for your meals every once in a while. Sit down at a resturant and pray. People won't look at you any different. You never hear gossip going around about someone saying. " Oh my gosh! Look at her! Shes... praying! What is wrong with her?!". So don't be embarased to just stop and talk to God.

I don't know how good my advice is seeing how I am only 12 years old but that is probably the best advice I have. Good luck!

Where did you post it? In the Haitian cuisine question or the homework one? If you are serious, pray about it. If you are meant to have ears that hear, and eyes that see, you will be given the knowledge and wisdom you need. However, even just with prayer thats not gonna do it. What good is an employee who doesn't understand his job? Would you fire him? Of course, unless you want your business to go under. Same with God. You need to get into His Word and ask for understanding and guidance. If it is time for you to understand, it will come.
But you need patience. God knows what time it is, even if we do not. So study, pray, and know that all this time that you are doing these things, your relationship is, in fact, becoming closer. There is no way for it not to. Hang in there.

Jehovah God in fact is not far off from each one of us (Acts 17:27). Many people believe he is unreachable, but the truth is if you want a closer relationship with God, it takes a little effort from our side (James 4:8). By the way you wrote the question, it seems that you are already trying to make your relationship with Jehova even closer, and learning about him will make him "more" real to you, and you will have even more reasons to love and feel closer to him.
The only way to get to know Jehova, is by reading the bible and meditating, and acting. It is very hard to understand the Bible, thus you need to study it with someone who understands it better.
I could direct you to someone who will be more than glad to help you make your relationship with God even stronger, or you can visit this website www.Watchtower.org
or if you want the direct link:

Have an understanding that God is not only based upon religion. God's grandeur is not fathomable to mankind... he is bigger than we all realize. A personal relationship starts with communication. Prayer is a must and there is not a right or a wrong way to pray or talk to God. Even without speaking, he understands your burdens and desires and needs. He knows your heart and what is right for you. If you feel insecure about some things, don't worry, he knows. He loves you regardless and he only seeks your love.

I also do wrong very often.
My way up is to pray more daily for divine guidance; reading the Words of God and meditate on them to attain spiritual strength; trying to do something good, then I can get more encouragement with its good fruit; people may show disgrace, but I feel the nearness of God.

It is not about what you do, really. A relationship is something that is built by getting to know one another. God already knows you....do you know Him? A good prayer is this, "Lord, I want to know you more." Then be still and wait for Him to reveal Himself to you. You may experience Him in ways you never imagined, like in a flower, or a cloud, or a song, or a Scripture, or something someone will say to you just out of the blue. That then begins a PERSONAL relationship.

I used to "dance" and sing songs before the Father - in my spirit. I used to take walks and I would know His presence around me just in the way I would see nature, or smell flowers, or just be filled with joy. He wants to pour out His lovingkindness on you, and He wants you to love it, too!

Best wishes

You are doing something wrong.

You're trying to talk to make-believe people.

It's cute when kids do it, but aren't you a little to old for that? Maybe everybody around you thinks god is real too, though, so that would explain it.

Read The God Delusion, and be forever free of religion. Email or IM me if you don't have a copy handy.
