Be more concise. Don't blabber on and on about nothing. I guess. I've never heard that saying before.

This quote was by Mr. Knightley to Emma. He meant that he loved her so much that he couldn't even vocalize the extent of his love. I think it was also a bit of a jibe at Frank Churchill who had just spent the entire book acting as if he was in love with Emma. Frank was so outward about his 'feelings' but right before this discussion between Mr. Knightley and Emma they had found out he had been engaged to another girl the entire time. Mr. Knightley was basically just saying he loved her more than words could express.

“A foolish man tells a woman to stop talking, but a wise man tells her that her mouth is extremely beautiful when her lips are closed”

“To speak and to speak well, are two things. A fool may talk, but a wise man speaks.”

“A fine quotation is a diamond in the hand of a man of wit and a pebble in the hand of a fool.”

“Never argue with a fool. Someone watching may not be able to tell the difference.”

“It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open one's mouth and remove all doubt.”

It means if you can answer a question or explain something in one sentence, don't turn it into an hour-long diatribe. Stop babbling and just say what you mean.
