Would you pierce your daughter's ears if she was just a baby? It's so cute and she wouldn't remember the pain. Plus I don't know anyone who wouldn't want her ears pierced other than my mom. I wasn't allowed to pierce my ears untill I was 11. All my friends got theirs done when they were much younger and none of them regret it. So what do you think?

I think there are pros and cons to each side. If you pierce them when they are young, it is a lot easier. (The chance of them getting scared of the piercing gun, flinching and it not being pierced in the right spot is lower.) However there is also a chance that as the ears continue to grow the earrings will move and no longer be centered. Or the child may grow up and decide she doesn't like earrings.

A lot of parents wait til the child is old enough to ask for them. My 5 year old had hers pierced at the start of fall. For weeks she would ask me every day if she could have them pierced. (She was 4 at the time) Finally we had it done and she did great. I had told her that if she got one, she had to sit and get the other one too. (They only had 1 lady working. I suggest two so they can do it at the same time. WAY easier) She sat there and let them pierce her ear. She cried a tiny bit, calmed down and let them do the other one. The hardest part of it all was when we had to take them out and put new ones in. She was scared those would hurt too. The first few changes were really hard, but now she is fine and wants to change them all the time lol.

My 3yr old girls have not had theirs pierced yet. I wanted to do it when they were smaller but we never got around to it. We will wait til they ask too.

I don't see anything wrong with pierced ears. My mom got mines done when I was about a year old or younger and I have no regrets. If worse comes to worse and your daugther doesn't like it, she doesn't have to wear any earrings and the hole would close up. Not completely but to the point where an earring cannot be pushed through. It's best to have it done when babies are not going to remember the pain. If my mom would have waited until I was older, I don't think I would be able to handle it.

I know my mom pierced my ears when I was about 6 months old, but my ears end up getting infected really bad to the point she had to take me to the Dr to have the earrings removed.

I say wait till the child is at lest talking and can tell you if something hurts. That way if there is a problem after getting her ears pierced she can tell you. My daughter is 3 and she is just getting her ears piecred and she's been asking since she was 1 1/2.

i saw a little baby girl in the store the other day that is 5 months old and had her ears pierced. right now i am pregnant with a girl. my hubby and i had the discussion about when to pierce her ears. i have the same thoughts as you, the it would be cute, easier to take care of, and she wouldn't remember the pain. however, when i was growing up, i was allowed to pierce my ears as a reward for hard work. we decided to wait until she is older.

Alot of people now days get their babys ears pierced. I guess its a personal choice, it will depend on ones self i guess. If they grow up and do not want the ear rings they can always not wear them. I got my ears done at about 3 when i asked and asked for it, i dont remember them doing it but i know i cried but they did it at the same times, both ears that is. So its really your choice.
Good luck!

My mum got my ears pierced when i was 10months old. I don't remember any pain (obviously! lol) and i'm no worse for it! If i didn't like them i would have just taken them out and let the holes close when i was old enough to realise. BUT i've never had that problem - my ears have always been pierced - thats just the way it is :)

I let my daughters get their ears pierced when they were 7, wanted to and had shown the ability to be responsible for other things. Each child and family is different, but I would never pierce an infant or toddlers ears.

My rule is that my girls have to ask. It's their body. It's their ears. What right do we have to poke permanent holes in them without asking? Also, about half of all infants who get there ears pierced end up with the holes getting infected and their parents have to take them out and let them heal over anyway.
