Ok, you have two different questions going on here... Preschool age children cry a lot because they have not learned how to regulate their emotions yet. Children act differently in different situations (school/home) because they learn HOW to act different with different people. Children often put on their "angel face" at school, and let loose with their real personalities at home. This is because they are most comfortable at home with the people who know them best, as well as the fact that they are tired by the time they get home from preschool.

I think Tenn Gal was right. Maybe he is looking for attention at home. My son is five years older than my daughter. Whenever he wanted her attention, he would torture her. Even though he received negative attention, it was attention. Try (I know how hard it is) to be extra nice. When he is behaving well, reward him with some time, it won't take much. 10 minutes of fun time goes a long way. He will get the idea, when he is nice you want to be with him. Good Luck !

Babies cry because they have no other way of expressing their wants and needs.
Although pre-schoolers are older, they are still learning to express themselves.
Chances are your little brother has different boundaries and expectations at school.
Yes, even little guys know what they can and cannot get away with.

Since he is so good in preschool, he is probably needing attention at home. Spend time with him.

Kids tend to act different around other people. They know they can get away with more things with relatives. Don't let him push you around, but don't be mean to him either, know what I mean?
