when you're drinking for quantity and not quality, you win with a "less filling" beer, also you don't get fat from consuming 10K calories worth of beer.

It's just a marketing ploy.
Good marketers know how to manipulate your brain into agreeing to a condition that isn't stated but implied. Essentially presenting two dots and letting you connect them.
