Theres a snail in a well. The well is 30 metres deep. Everyday the snail climbs up 3 metres, and every night he slides back 2 metres. How many days does it take the snail to reach the top??

It's 28 days, not 27 or 30. Look at it this way. After 1 day, the snail has climbed 3 metres. After 2 days, it's climbed 4 metres. After 3 days, it's climbed 5 metres. The pattern here is that the number of metres climbed is 2 more than the number of days that have passed. So after 27 days, the snail only reaches 29 metres. It's only after 28 days have passed that it reaches 30.

26 days. The first day's worth of climbing it reaches (a top height of) 3 meters, the second day 4, the 3rd day 5, etc. All the way up to 27, when it climbs out completely.

During the day she travels at the speed of 0.25 m/hr (3 m in 12 hours). so to cover 1m it will take her 4 hours. her total travel time is 29x24 +4 =700 hours. 700/24=29.16666666 or 29 1/6.
