Has anyone started trying to fix thier computer only to find, after phoning BT and reinstalling browsers, firewalls, antivirus, updating programmes, family abandoning you to go to bed, not saying 'goodnight' to the kids, another glass of wine - just to get you through the process. After all this you 're still not sure what the morning will bring. Done everything they said. Still not sure what the problem was! It is 00.45! I'm up in the morining. Please say I'm not alone! The computer is still saying - 'fixing the problem, this may take afew minutes, please wait'! Yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw :) thank you all for your answers. Just wanted sympathy I suppose! I think the prob was having bought laptop with free McAffee and already using Norton on main PC abit of a conflict set up. Also being with BT, they have their own security which includes Norton. Very confusing - to me and my computer (they really aren't that clever apparently!) Off to bed as suggested. LOL

Sweetie, go to bed,,,, yes, I know only too well what you are saying.
Be kind to yourself, tomorrow is another day. Then you will be fresh.Hopefully by then you will have made up to your kids and family....
Blasted COMPUTERS!!!! How many hours have they stolen from us all then!!!???
Truely, pop off to bed now, take a look again later, sometimes they even fix themselves up by magic!!!!** Not often, but sometimes... More to the point, after a good nights sleep, like magic, you will be able to deal with the beast....
Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite,,,,zzzzzzz:-)

You are not alone but that wont help much as a old man computers are a mastery to me a lot of the time try asking a seven year old and they will be able to fix it better than you can a computer nerd will do the trick if you can find one. I just lose my temper when you put a disk in and it says please put a disk in Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lots of blue words the kick it and some times it works other wise if you can afford it call in an engineer. modern technology who needs it Bah humbug.

what problem are u having exactly? Is when you first boot up..try to open a file...open the internet browser? If you can leave the exact error message and also what the error number is at the top of the pop up box (if there is one) I'm sure you could get more help..
But I understand your pain...my favorite is when u are building a computer and after almost everything you load onto it you have to restart so it will begin to work.. >.< that is a pain.

Hmm, I'm meant to be doing an assignment and I need about 500 more words but I'm all you know... idea-ed out. I shouldn't have left it til now but I always do.
I can never be bothered with computers, if one breaks I just kick it, if it still doesn't work I just find someone to whine to or buy a new one. Bloody things, you love then but you hate them at the same time.
Go to bed, it'll still be broken in the morning!

BT has such fantastic technical ability in its call centres. No matter how many times you ring, how many times you've rebooted your PC, your router, how many times you've reseated the cables and anything else you can think of, they still get you to do EVERY SINGLE STEP again whenever you ring up.
I've had the same problem myself - on more than one occasion :-s
As there's quite a diverse number of faults and solutions, I'll just wish you all the best for now and hope you get it sorted lol :-)

let me ask you a question, when your car brakes down, do you take it to a garage? when your heating breaks down, do you call a plumber? so why-oh why , if there is a problem with your PC (I'm assuming you are not a PC professional) dont you spend 100quid and get someone in?
Sleep well..................
