if its superficial(sp?) then its fine.. just use a thin layer.. you can just use neosporin... I have worked for vets for over 10 years and have heard them all say that neosporin is fine for minor scrapes..Bactracin is just a type of neosporin??right.. watch for swelling or major reddness... then there might be an abscess involved...thats when you need to go to the vet... stay away from the eyes ... it could harm it then but even if it licks the wounds its fine...good luck ... hope this helps...smile

EDIT: Neosporin is OK to use!!!

please check out these links:

(I could have posted ALOT more but if you check these out you will know that alot of people have used and have been told to use it by their VETS!!)

i dont nkow what that is but polysporin is safe(make sure it is a very thin layer) and Hibitane cleanser is fine for washing cuts. It is bright red and might slightly stain a white cat. The color will fade in a few days.

Talk to your vet. As far as it being an effective tool in aiding your cat's healing process, it's good. However, cats lick anything gooey they find stuck to their body, and there may be an issue if your cat ingests it. Ask your vet about the harm it can do if your cat swallows it.

What is it you are trying to treat? Don't tell me you are a vet who is able to diagnose infections, but your just looking for advice on how to treat them? ;)

It is generally a bad idea to use antibiotics if you don't know what is causing the infection. You need to treat the disease, not the symptoms. Consider taking the cat in for a quick check up before you treat it.

Cheers,
Erin
