Try the Old Ebbitt Grill: http://www.ebbitt.com/main/index-flash.cfm
It's a historic restaurant with great food and great atmosphere. It's a favorite among tourists and locals. It's close to the White House.

The City Lights of China near Dupont Circle has really really good Chinese food at a reasonable price: http://www.citylightsofchina.com/

Pizzeria Paradiso has great pizza: http://www.eatyourpizza.com/

Cheap eats:
Go across the river into Rosslyn virginia, to the Quarterdeck, a dive bar with a wonderful crab/seafood restaurant behind it.

Medium priced: Grill Fish, down town, wonderful fresh fish with a huge variety. Coppi's restaurant, organic Italian. This *can* be expensive, but try the pizza. It's wonderful and quite affordable.

High priced but really good: Nora's, Vidalia, the Capital Grille

Washington DC is purely no longer commonplace for that is wonderful cuizine. i've got had this verbal replace with some wonderful chefs over the yeairs, and that they/all of us agree; the secret to stable nutrition is to start with stable water. Water is a key ingrediant in noticeably much each little thing. Cooking pasta? you go with for water. Making bread? you go with for water. The DC section gets its water from the muddy Potomac River. on the different hand, long island city is commonplace for its large nutrition. the place does long island city get its water? The crystal sparkling streams of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate long island. observing the solutions right here i assume i'm maximum intrigued by potential of those given by potential of melir23. i've got no longer eaten at maximum of those places, yet they sound interesting. the only one i could scratch off my record could be Clyde's - that place is a fern bar...approximately one step up from the sitdown places at maximum suburban paying for shops.

If you want a quick lunch while sightseeing try the lower level at Union Station. It is a food court with practically anything you could be hungry for.
