It doesn't sound as if the poor thing will live long enough for you to worry about him getting 'used to everything.'

Hi. There, if you want to train the birds, they need to be separated or they will bond with each other and not you.It should take a week or two for the new guy to settle in. Feed them a good pellet food for keets and add 10% seed and 10-20% fruits and veggies to avoid malnutrition. have a tweet year.

It depends on several factors, it could be anything from a few days to several weeks. Heres my suggestions:

1. Don't startle it! When you enter the room or near its cage, start talking to the bird softly and announcing your presents.

2. Try hand feeding it, it helps them gain your trust.

3. Let them sleep without anything covering the cage for the first few nights. It lets them get used to sounds and stuff like that.

I hope this helps and I have tried this before. It worked on mine.

With mine it really just took a week, and they were together for 10 years before one of them died.

The only thing is that Smokey is 11 and pebbles is 2.
Pebbles is still a baby and poor Smokey just wants to sleep all day. (Pebbles does not let him hehe)

well one is better then two. the reason being is they gang up to gether and not friendly towards you. they sometimes won't get along for while and you should have them in separate cages and then wait couple days but maybe not get along at all.

If you really want your keets to last longer...place your hungry cat inside their cage...that sure will take care of them getting sick and dying on you... I should know...I lost seven cats to two parakeets.

it will take a while for you guys to get used to your new friend and it will take time for your friend to get used to you let them see each other so they get used to eachother right away and let the new one settle in before you handle it.
