Does God want us to use the brains he gave us and to engage in scientific inquiry? Or does he want us to just believe that everything in the bible is a true and accurate description of the world and stop trying to learn about the world through scientific research?

OurXtrees,
Yes. It's called a heading. Surely you have taken a English class or two. You capitalize the first letter of each word in a heading.

And Theo: But he wants us to develop fairy tales about talking serpents, is that it?

Oh, and Theo: Einstein never said that. He did believe in God though, you are right about that. He was a Deist though, and did not believe in a God that either rewards or punishes His creatures.

Man, talk about begging the question! Why don't you just come right out and say, "He wants us to learn about the world through scientific research"? At least that would be a lot more honest on your part, instead of asking a phony "question" like this.
Personally, I see no conflict between science and my Christian faith. In fact, the more I study both subjects, the more amazed I am at what a perfectly balanced and wonderful planet God created!

God wants us to use our brains to further the kingdom.
He certainly doesn't want us developing fairy tales about how bears became whales, or how the giraffe was first created with a short neck.
All the science in the world could not touch 2% of what God has done or what God knows.
Einstein said 'if we have only explored 2% of the universe, how can we be sure that God does not exist in the other 98%.

Why do you assume that it is an either/or type of thing? I don't see how belief that God occasionally interrupts the normal order of the universe by performing miracles somehow interferes with scientific inquiry, or vice verse.

CJ is sturdy. the super Bang THEOREY and Evolution are concept's. they have info yet not info. God did supply us a strategies, and loose selection. Adam and Eve chosen to sin, and that they gave up their suitable lives that they had with God. God needs us to incorporate technology, particular, yet comparable to Athiests say Christians do: He would not desire us blindly following concept and accepting it as reality. through fact, enable's settle for it. technology is un-consistent. some hundred years in the past, it substitute into medical reality that the Earth substitute into flat. It substitute into additionally medical reality that the tomato substitute into poisonous. technology isn't concrete. to boot, Charles Darwin himself wrote in his e book, The foundation of Species, that his concept does not renounce the existence of any God. And what '1000's of contradictions' are there in the bible? some info have been misqued by undesirable translations, particular, yet there at the instant are not any 'contradictions' which do undue harm to the ideals and info of Christianity or the different faith. God needs us to be sensible. God gave us the flexibility to advance, learn and to chosen our very own direction. He does not desire us to 'pretend' the info does not exist. some Christians are just to slender minded to work out that Evolution is a legitament concept on the inspiration of guy. despite if, advent is likewise a sturdy. concept. To all I say: each and each to our very own. you have faith the form you elect to have faith. do not enable everybody make it easier to be conscious of in any different case. Athesits, don't be pegged down by Christians. non secular persons, do not enable Atheists insult you or degrade your ideals. And for the affection of God, NEITHER ingredient CAN declare THAT THEIR concept IS reality. the two components have info, particular, yet NO info.

Yes,he did give us brains to think, eyes to see, legs to walk with,
ears to hear with and a tong to taste, and countless other assets for us to use.
He also gave us his miracles, like a chicken can lay 100 or more eggs, and each egg may produce 100 chickens. Or tiny little seed can produce thousand times bigger vegetables for us to feed ourselves to mention a few.
But remember, Satan tries to make miracles too, but his miracles always fails, so he recruits impostors to lie and sometimes threatens us to believe it is true. Well, he has a job to do also. May be the God gave us brains to think with, so we can separate right from wrong, evil from goodness.
But,as they say, you can take a horse to a well, but you can not make him drink.

Christians will claim that he wants us to use the intellect of our minds to prove through scientific means that every word in the Bible is true. Creationists are a perfect example of this. Unfortunately, this is not possible, as science is continuously debunking Biblical claims, so I will go with the idea of using our minds over accepting the words of sheep and goat herders who lived over 2000 years ago. I don't think he will mind our attempts at intellectual honesty in our pursuit of truth and reality

Yes god does want us to use our brains. The bible is a tool to be supplemented by common sense. Alot of the bible is symbolic and not meant to be taken literally. You can read different points of view that is called using your brain.

Science can only be done with the assumption of Christian Theism. The scientist, in order for scientific inquiry to be meaningful, assumes the uniformity of nature, which can only be accounted for in the Christian worldview. The unbeliever then is in a sinking boat for he assumes the very thing he denies, that God is. Though the unbeliever reasons, he reasons inconsistently.

Why do you necessarily correlate God and Bible and assume because the Bible says something is wrong God automatically
deems it wrong. God was here with many peoples long before the Bible was written.
