They not only find other religious laughable(or at least pretend they do), but they even pretend to find science laughable. They will laugh at the idea that we all evolved from earlier species, as if that idea is simply absurd. Then they tell us in all seriousness that the way creation really occurred involved a talking serpent speaking to one of the first human beings. No, nothing at all absurd about talking serpents!

I researched many religions prior to becoming a Christian but don't laugh at others beliefs although I'm sure you'll find posts for this question where people mock mine.

What did Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformer, state about the Bible? In his "Commentary On St. John," he stated the following: "We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of God, that we have received It from them, and that without them we should have no knowledge of It at all." Regardless of what non-Catholic Christians may think or say, according to secular, objective historians, the Catholic Church alone preserved Sacred Scripture throughout the persecution of the Roman Empire and during the Dark Ages. All non-Catholic Christian denominations owe the existence of the Bible to the Catholic Church alone. Why did God choose the Catholic Church to preserve Scripture if It is not His Church

Find what works for you, and inspires you. weather it is believing in God or being an Atheist. Life is about what you feel is the right direction for you. I don't (personally) believe we were put on earth to serve a higher being, I believe we are put her to contribute to the world in our own unique way and up hold others for doing the right thing not believing what others say to.

Well I think that its just human nature, to defend what they belive in even if it is preposterous. But surely is not just christians, not to defend them, but all religions do the same to some extence.

I don't find other religions hard to believe, I find them wrong. I know what I believe is right.
If you left Christianity for Scientology, you never were a Christian.
