In some states, teen sexual health is private. You can get free or low cost birth control from planned parenthood and the information is not shared with parents.
While I understand your concerns about your father, I think it is time to have a serious talk with him. I don't know the context of your relationship, but I would tell him why you want to get birth control. (It may not be the real reason) If he is pretty conservative with that sort of thing, talk to your doctor. If you tell him/her that you do not want this to be shared, then I am sure that this information can be kept private. They took an oath to do what is best for the patient, medically and emotionally. Their authority will assist you in getting birth control. Once you turn 18, that decision regardless of what state you live in, is your business!

Yes..every time you visit the doctor the insurance company sends the policy holder aka your father a statement saying what was done and the charges billed and covered. In order to get birth control from the doctors office they require a papp smear and a pregnancy test first. When your dad sees charges for a pregnancy test he may not be happy. Good luck!

Here is the thing as far as "charges" no it will not show up as BIRTH CONTROL if you have to get a pelvic it might how up as PAP SMEAR and lab work. If you are concerned about your dad finding out which will cause a fight go to the Department of human services and they will not only give you a pap but also the pills based on YOUR income. No income you'd have maybe a 5 dollar charge. Alot of times BCBS will fight that BC is not medically necessary {if you only want it to prevent pregnancy} and may not pay for the Rx. Had this problem down in Tx myself with BCBS about 3 yrs ago but the payment of the medication may have changed. We now reside out of state and the state I live in now BCBS will not pay ANYTHING for birth control

I live in Kentucky and have Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and I've also taken birth control for 6 years. I have never seen it show up on a EOB (explanation of benefits). What he will see on the EOB is where and when you went to the doctor. Prescription drugs do not show up on insurance claims. Good luck girl.

First off smart thinking going on Birth control. Second you have 2 options talk to your doctor he can't tell your parents he may be able to put it in the insurance a certain way 2nd go to a clinic and they are usually free for young girls making the responisble decision.

For me, although I was over 18 I still received medical from my parents because I was a full time student. But I got my BC from the clinic on my campus which offers free services to students, esp if you weren't working or were working but not getting paid enough. So I went there for services, and my parents never knew. You can try and go to a clinic that you know of that especially helps young girls like you. There are definitely places out there like that. And usually, when you go to these places, you sign a "privacy" policy that states something like they (the clinic) will never release any information about their patients, who their patients are, etc.

This is what sexual health clinics are for.
Find the nearest one and go there for your exam and prescription. They're generally free and nothing about your visit is reported to your parents, by law.
Further, the pill does not protect you against STD's of any type. You and your partner will still need to use condoms, so you might want to consider just condoms. No doctor's visits needed, no prescriptions needed, they're widely available and not particularly expensive.

I hope so,cause if you are old enough for sex you are
certainly old enough to get your own birth control!!!
It's really nice to tell your parents to butt out of your life
when you feel like it,but when you want something, you
try to take it from them. How is it that you think you are
being responsible by stealing from your father?
Be a real lady and don't have sex!!! Respect yourself
and your Daddy's name! That is responsible! Not what
you have in mind!!! Shame on you!

go to planned parenthood. i pay $16 for it, and i don't receive any notes. most insurances don't pay for birth control anyway. always use a condom too. there are many more scary things out there than a baby. STDs, etc.
